Central City Opera, the fifth oldest professional opera company in the country, is pleased to announce the election of four members of the Board of Directors to Officer Positions effective January 1, 2018. The elections took place during Central City Opera's Annual Business Meeting, held November 8, 2017.
"It will be an honor to work with such an esteemed group of leaders, as these individuals are a testament to Central City Opera's strong impact on the community. I look forward to working with each one of them as we continue to enrich the artistic fabric of Colorado and the nation," said Pelham (Pat) Pearce, General/Artistic Director.
About the 2018 Central City Opera Officers
Judith W. Grant, Chairman of the Board
Judith W. Grant is a retired middle school/high school English Teacher. She taught for twenty-one years in various schools throughout the Denver metro area, including most recently at St. Anne's Episcopal School where she taught seventh and eighth grade students from 1989-2000. Since 1988, Judith has been a longtime supporter of a number of organizations, including serving on the University of Denver Arts and Humanities Board from 2003-2010, and as President of the Board from 2008-2010. She also volunteered with the Garden Club of Denver from 2004-present and was the Centennial Project Chair for the organization from 2014-2016. In 2017, she became the Vice Regent for Colorado for the Mount Vernon Ladies Association, a group that preserves and maintains George Washington's home. Judy has been integrally involved with the Central City Opera Board of Directors, having served from 2002-present. She was the Chair for the Theatre of Dreams Gala Fundraiser from 2015-2017 and most recently held the position of Special Events Chair in 2017. As of January 1, 2018, Judy will be serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Roopesh Aggarwal, President
Roopesh Aggarwal is a Managing Director at Ankura Consulting Group, with nearly 20 years of experience working with distressed and challenged operating companies. His expertise stretches across the energy value chain, including oil and gas exploration and production, utilities, gas processing and pipelines, coal production and processing, fuel terminals, renewable technologies, and service providers, as well as into other industries including real estate, automotive, and software. In addition to his advisory experience with leading global consulting firms, Roopesh spent several years as both a private equity investor and a strategy/finance executive for distressed operating companies across the energy sector. Elected to the Central City Opera Board of Directors in 2016, Roopesh has also served on the executive committee during his tenure. As Central City Opera embarks on the next phase of its growth and development, Roopesh will be working with the company to enhance its economic capabilities. As of January 1, 2018, he will be serving as President of the Board of Directors.
Dr. Gregg Kvistad, Treasurer
Dr. Gregg Kvistad is the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor, where he has served the University of Denver as a professor and administrator for more than two decades. Dr. Kvistad arrived at the University in 1984, after teaching at Wellesley College for two years and serving as a research affiliate at Harvard University's Center for European Studies. At DU, Kvistad has taught a variety of classes on comparative politics and political economy. He also has taught courses on a broader range of subjects, including the politics of nuclear disarmament, political theory and private property, and American state in the political economy, among many others. Since 2007, Dr. Kvistad has been on the Central City Opera Board of Directors and has served as Treasurer of the board since 2012. He will continue as the Treasurer of the Central City Opera Board of Directors in 2018.
Michael Huseby, Secretary
Michael Huseby has been an integral part of the Central City Opera Board of Directors since 1995. Since joining the board, Michael has served as the VP Chair of Development from 2001-2006, as the Nomination Committee Chair from 2007-2009 and as Secretary of the Board since 2008. He will continue as Secretary of the Central City Opera Board of Directors in 2018.
