Chatham Baroque Set for Houston Early Music Hispanic Heritage Series

Chatham Baroque will journey from its wintry home in Pittsburgh to the Houston Early Music series with "Cantadas de Navidad," a joyous program of Spanish and Latin American Christmas music, which will be presented on Saturday, Dec. 5, at Christ Church Cathedral as part of the Hispanic Heritage Series.
Sydney Symphony Orchestra to Welcome All-Star Guests in October

The Sydney Symphony Orchestra and its Chief Conductor and Artistic Director David Robertson will be joined next month by some of the best opera singers in the world for Beethoven's Missa Solemnis deemed by the composer as 'my greatest work'. Australian tenor Stuart Skelton, American soprano Susanna Phillips, Russian mezzo-soprano Olesya Petrova and Chinese bass-baritone Shenyang will showcase their virtuosity in this highly textured, melodic and often technically demanding mass with the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs and a full orchestra, totalling more than 200 performers on stage in these concerts.

World-renowned artists Mika (marimba) and Richard Stoltzman (clarinet) return to Carnegie Hall on November 5, 2015, to showcase their amazing versatility and crossover ability in a one-night only concert event. The program includes works by Chick Corea, John Zorn, Toru Takemitsu, Bach, Ravel, and Stravinsky, as well as the world premiere of William T. McKinley's 22-movement Mostly Blues for Clarinet and Marimba. Joining the duo on stage are guest artists Eddie Gomez (bass), Adam Albert (clarinet), John Hamann (bass clarinetist), and Miki Orihara (principal dancer of the Martha Graham Dance Company).
Board Chairman Oscar and Wife Didi Schafer to Gift NY Philharmonic $25 Million

New York Philharmonic Board Chairman Oscar Straus Schafer and his wife, Didi, are making the largest gift to the New York Philharmonic from an individual donor in the organization's history. The $25 million gift includes $20 million to help build the Philharmonic's endowment as well as the renovation of its concert home. The Schafers are also continuing their support of the Philharmonic's free Concerts in the Parks series with an additional commitment of $5 million.

Tonight, September 26 at 3 pm, Princeton Symphony Orchestra Music Director Rossen Milanov makes his first appearance of the season as host of the PSO's Behind the Music event featuring violinist Jennifer Koh at the Arts Council of Princeton's Paul Robeson Center. Ms. Koh discusses her years of collaborating with composer Anna Clyne, paying particular attention to Ms. Clyne's recent work The Seamstress for Violin and Orchestra. Mr. Milanov offers his own insights into preparing Ms. Clyne's work for live performance and gives audience members an opportunity to join in the conversation.

Internationally renowned Soprano Isabel Bayrakdarian returns to her roots in a program featuring traditional Armenian music including troubadour songs, ancient liturgy, lullabies, hymns and folk music through the centuries.  Accompanying her will be Camerata Pacifica and pianist/composer Serouj Kradjian whose “Diramayr Hymns” for voice and cello will be a world premiere.  This recital, performed as part of the 13th Annual Daniel Pearl World Music Days, marks Ms. Bayrakdarian's VPAC debut.
