From the author of In the Beginning, and Four Pictures of Jesus, The New Testament: Modern Evangelical Version is Robert Thomas Helm's latest translation of the books in the bible. Whereas in his first couple of translations, he limited himself to a few books; this time around, Helm embarks on a bolder, grander and more significant mission as he takes on the second half of the Holy Scriptures.

At a time when there are already many modern English Bible translations, potential readers may wonder, "Why another translation?" While no Bible translation is perfect, his new book is quite unique in certain respects. Specifically, it is intended to provide a bold witness to the good news (gospel) about Jesus Christ in modern colloquial English. Helm was simply impelled by a desire to put the bible in a very accurate, readable language.

The New Testament is intended to communicate with common people. This is why Helm's translation has employed the colloquial English of the 21st Century. It is intended to communicate the good news to the English-speaking masses. God's Word has never before been translated in a way so understandable for the modern-day English speaking faithful until Helm's version. This makes Helm's book highly relevant today.

The book also has a couple of special features. Endnotes appear after each chapter in order to aid the reader in understanding the text. They also list important variant readings that appear in the different Greek manuscripts. Study guides with questions have also been added at the end of each New Testament book. These questions are intended to engage readers in careful thought and are especially designed for small group Bible study.

It is Helm's sincere prayer that The New Testament: Modern Evangelical Version will be used by God the Holy Spirit to kindle faith in Jesus Christ and His good news, to advance Christ's kingdom on earth, and to hasten the day when Christ will come again. As readers come to know Jesus as their personal Saviour and Lord, death will seize to symbolize the end, but begin to radiate everlasting hope.
