Waterworks is hosted by Nathan Galovan and directed/produced by D. Arthur. Waterworks is a show for funny people to share moments in their lives when tears were involved. The sharing can be by any means of their choice- storytelling/stand-up, sketch, song, powerpoint presentation, interactive experience, interpretive dance, anything they like. This big-hearted show promises lots of laughs, and maybe, just maybe, a few tears.

BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival, now in its 40th season, presents The Blues Project, combining the exceptional dance company Dorrance Dance with the elemental musical force that is Toshi Reagon & BIGLovely. Created by Michelle Dorrance, Derick K. Grant, Toshi Reagon, and Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards, The Blues Project brings together today's best tap artists, musicians, and choreographers in an innovative evening of rhythm, original live music, explosive energy, and raw emotion. The work reveals 'a deep merging of forms: As Ms. Reagon's music envelops the dancing, the dancing seeps through to the last chord and sometimes even beyond it' (The New York Times). The performance, which takes place at the Prospect Park Bandshell (9th St. & Prospect Park West) is free to the public (with a suggested $5 contribution at the gate) and begins at 8:00pm on June 28.

Joseph V. Melillo, executive producer of the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), today announced programming for the 2018 Next Wave Festival. The festival runs from October 3 through December 23 and comprises music, opera, theater, physical theater, dance, film/music, and performance art engagements in the BAM Howard Gilman Opera House, BAM Harvey Theater, and BAM Fisher. This year's festival will be the final Next Wave curated by Melillo; he will also program BAM's 2019 Winter/Spring season before stepping down at the end of 2018 after 35 years of artistic leadership at BAM.

On Today May 17th, C'mon Everybody will host the second edition of the Sound Mind Collective's Uplift: Brooklyn! benefit concert series. This time around, all proceeds collected from the door and other means (raffle, text-to-donate, etc) will be donated to the Campaign For An Elected Civilian Review Board (ECRB). An impressive lineup of speakers and musicians has been assembled to energize New Yorkers looking to support a positive social movement through music. Artists on the lineup include Bajah & The Dry Eye Crew, M.A.K.U. Soundsystem and the Resistance Revival Chorus (who recently performed alongside Ke$ha at this year's Grammy Awards).

Performance Space New York's East Village Series, the first themed series under the leadership of Executive Artistic Director Jenny Schlenzka, has reexamined the audacious origins of the organization and the communities that formed around it. In 1986, choreographer Ishmael Houston-Jones, composer/guitarist Chris Cochrane, writer Dennis Cooper, and an ensemble of dancers performed the first full version of THEM, an unblinking interdisciplinary work of scored improvisational dance, spoken text, and guitar, at what was then Performance Space 122.

The U.S. Premiere of Toshiki Okada's Time's Journey Through a Room opens this Sunday, May 20, at the Mezzanine Theatre at the A.R.T./New York Theatres. Presented by The Play Company (PlayCo), led by Founding Producer Kate Loewald and Managing Director Robert G. Bradshaw, Time's Journey Through a Room is PlayCo's third collaboration with Okada, translator Aya Ogawa and director Dan Rothenberg. This haunting play, set in Japan after the Fukushima disaster, stars the Japanese-born, New York based performers Yuki Kawahisa (Honoka), Maho Honda (Arisa) and Kensaku Shinohara (Kazuki). The play is both an intimate examination of how we move forward from life-altering events, and a study of how we experience time, asking whether we can ever be alive to the present moment.
