Fabiola Méndez is a Puerto Rican cuatro player and bandleader at the forefront of a new generation bringing traditional Puerto Rican music to audiences across the world. Growing up in Caguas, Puerto Rico, she began cuatro lessons at age six and later attended Berklee College of Music, where she became the school's first graduate with cuatro as a principal instrument in 2018. She performs with her quartet, featuring percussionist Miguel Martinez, Juan Maldonado on bass, and Adrian Maldonado on drums. Méndez was honored as the 2023 Boston Music Awards Latin Artist of the Year and appears as part of the three-day Lowell Folk Festival in downtown Lowell, Massachusetts.
