Cape Verdean singer-songwriter Elida Almeida performs at the 2026 Lowell Folk Festival, a free three-day celebration of music and culture held across downtown Lowell, Massachusetts. Born on the island of Santiago, Almeida developed her sound rooted in funaná and batuque, the traditional music of Cape Verde, and rose to international prominence after her ballad "Nta Konsiqui" went viral in 2015. She has since released five albums and toured extensively throughout Europe and North America. Joining her at the festival are Melissa Carper & Emily Gimble, Dat Mighty 9, John Doyle & Friends, Fabiola Mendez, and Super Chikan & the Fighting Cocks.
