Huntington Names New Board of Trustees Officers

The Huntington Theatre Company Board of Trustees names David R. Epstein to the role of Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Sharon Malt to President, Carol B. Langer to Treasurer, and Sherryl Cohen to Clerk. Mr. Epstein and Ms. Malt assumed their new leadership roles at Monday's Huntington Board of Trustees meeting. Mr. Epstein succeeds Carol G. Deane (active in real estate management), Huntington Trustee Chairman since 2010; Ms. Malt succeeds Mitchell Roberts (owner of PR Restaurants LLC, a Panera Bread franchise), President since 2010. Both Ms. Deane and Mr. Roberts will continue to serve on the Huntington's Board of Trustees and Executive Committee.
2016 Nantucket Arts Festival to Celebrate Sculptor David Hostetler

Hub Theatre Company of Boston presents Wit by Tony nomincated and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Margaret Edson November 4-19 (Press performance is November 5, 2016, at 8 pm) at First Church Boston, 66 Marlborough Street in Boston's Back Bay.  Performances are Thursdays at 7:30 pm, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm, and Sundays at 5 pm. All performances are "Pay-What-You-Can". BWW Review: Patti LuPone: No Monkeying Around in Worcester

Music Worcester had a grand opening to its 157th season last night at beautiful Mechanics Hall, a treasure in downtown Worcester, presenting Patti LuPone in her latest solo concert program, DON'T MONKEY WITH BROADWAY. She shared the stage with her fantastic musical director/accompanist Joseph Thalken, and was joined by The Worcester Chorus for several songs in the second act. It was thrilling to hear so many signature songs performed live by one of the great Broadway divas.
Pontine Theatre Announces 2016-17 Portsmouth Performance Season

Now celebrating its 39th Season, Pontine Theatre, a resident company at Strawbery Banke Museum, announces its 2016-17 Performance Series.  Some productions will be presented on the campus of Strawbery Banke Museum and others at select locations in the Greater Seacoast community.  Pontine's season is supported by the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts.  
WAM Theatre Announces Audience Enrichment Offerings for Bakelite Masterpiece

Thanks to a grant from Mass Humanities, WAM Theatre is able to offer a comprehensive audience enrichment program around their upcoming co-production with the Berkshire Theatre Group of The Bakelite Masterpiece by Kate Cayley and directed by WAM Artistic Director Kristen van Ginhoven. These include post-show conversations with the playwright and other notable scholars, program notes, and a lobby display and resource list exploring Truth and Reconciliation from World War II to today, along with a subsidized ticket program.

The Street Pianos are returning to Boston!  Mayor Walsh will officially open the art installation on Friday, 9/23 at 3 pm at the piano on City Hall Plaza. He'll be joined by Luke Jerram, the UK artist that created the Street Pianos concept and Gary Dunning, executive director of Celebrity Series of Boston, who is producing the event.  There will also be short performance by the Voices of Renaissance Choir from the Boston Renaissance Charter School.
Musicians Mobilise Against TTP with Free Concert

On Friday, October 7th, as part of the nationwide Rock Against the TPP tour, prominent musicians will lead the charge in mobilizing to raise awareness about the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), an unpopular deal that has been a contentious issue in the 2016 election. The tour, which is the largest mobilization against the TPP in U.S. history, comes to Spontaneous Celebrations in Jamaica Plain from 6pm - 10pm for a FREE concert featuring indie star Mirah, beloved Ethiopian dance-pop troupe Debo Band, renowned Boston hip hop duo Foundation Movement, and more.

SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE opens the Huntington Theatre Company's 2016-2017 season. Directed by Artistic Director Peter DuBois, with Music Direction by Eric Stern, it features a large and talented ensemble with a mix of Boston theater artists and those with Broadway credits. Jenni Barber is a delight as Dot/Marie, but Adam Chanler-Berat does not match her intensity as George. The production looks great, sounds good, but feels less filling than a Sondheim show should.

He hires an actor and a theater to help him reenact his experience, and exorcise the specter that haunts his life.
