It's a madcap journey to Monte Carlo with a rich, dead uncle, mistaken identity, slamming doors, romance, and great songs.

Thompson's play, which was made into the well-known 1981 movie starring Henry Fonda and Katharine Hepburn, will run as a CCTC main-stage production from September 16th thru October 9th, under the direction of Susan Kosoff.

Boston Ballet Launches 53rd Season With the North American Premiere of LE CORSAIRE, 10/27

Boston Ballet's 53rd season begins with the North American premiere of Ivan Liška's adventure and romance-filled Le Corsaire, with music by Adolphe Adam, Leo Delibes, Cesare Pugni, Riccardo Drigo, and Prinz von Oldenburg, performed by the Boston Ballet Orchestra. The narrative follows a beautiful maiden, a wealthy aristocrat determined to add her to his harem, and a dashing pirate even more resolved to save her. Based on Marius Petipa's 19th-century classic, Liška's version of Le Corsaire was created for the Bavarian State Ballet in 2007. Liška enlisted the assistance of dance historian Doug Fullington to decipher the choreography from its original Stepanov dance notation, which is housed in Harvard University Library's Theatre Collection. Le Corsaire will run from October 27 to November 6, 2016 at the Boston Opera House.

Seven outstanding artists from across the country have received Tanne Foundation Awards for 2016.  Now in its eighteenth year, the foundation is pleased to make this announcement as a means of underscoring the importance of its mission to support individual artists with unrestricted funding. The Huntington is now accepting applications for the 2017-2019 Huntington Playwriting Fellows Cohort. To be eligible, writers must live at least nine months of the year in the Greater Boston area. Applications can be submitted online and all accompanying materials must be submitted via email to submissions@huntingtontheatre.org no later than 11:59PM on Thursday, October 27, 2016. Early submissions are encouraged, and submissions are read roughly in the order they are received.

The actors are the strength of the production, providing a master class on working as an ensemble. REGULAR SINGING is a feel good drama, but, at two hours, less would be more.

Alabama Story, which recently opened at the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater, begins and ends with the simple, child-like need for the characters to both tell and beckon the audience to prepare for a story: a story that tells of the South but deals with much that is not southern in nature, a story that was not meant to turn into anything other than something with a happy ending. Alabama Story tells a story of people who have stories, make up stories, and never saw the proper end to their stories: all taking place in the turbulent years leading up to the 1960's.
