ha. he doesn't sound that bad. better then I was expecting. though there was very little scene work shown. did anyone else notice the hag mouthing the words to "King of Broadway" behind Tony? bad habit... Updated On: 2/3/07 at 12:15 AM
Believe it or not, I'm making my first return trip to this show on Tuesday since January 2002 to see Tony Danza in this role...I will certainly report back.
Tony winner Cady Huffman is a far cry from "horrid." That was totally uncalled for, munkustrap178.

HYDE: NEW DAYS DAWN
He didn't seem that bad in the video clip, but trust me, he's awful. I was expecting to truly enjoy this show, but it was a disappointment because of Danza's performance. Hunter Foster and the other leads were great. The ensemble seemed kind of bored, though. I wouldn't recommend the show in its current state.
Interesting Most Happy Fella reference to whoever created the title. However, Mr. Danza was far from wonderful from the video. Perhaps seeing it live would be better? I doubt it.
He reminds me of the guy who was recently in The Most Happy Fella at City Opera.

munk- for once our views are polar opposites based off that clip i like cady's belting much better (not bashing angie at all i just liked cady's rediculously strong belting section)
"Grease," the fourth revival of the season, is the worst show in the history of theater and represents an unparalleled assault on Western civilization and its values. - Michael Reidel
hes sweaty and out of breath alot- but that works with the character. his voice is perfectly fine and he stayed in character and energetic the ENTIRE time. is he a Tony caliber performer? of course not but he more than holds his own.
as for schworer- she fell, mid-dance, when i saw her and seemed kinda off the rest of the night, but her If You Got It, Flaunt It was perfect, as the video attests to. Her voice- in my opinion- blows Cady (and Uma!) out of the water.
I think Cady had a great, fun, innocent look about her, and a fabulous voice. The actress in this video was bland and looked so drippy as if "Along Came Bialy" is the right number and character for her.
"Not fat. Husky." "Nooo, my DOG was huskey, you were FAT"
I like that alteration.
And Danza is bad. Not as horrific as his first few weeks, and he forgets a lot less of the dialogue now, which is nice. Always appreciated. Foster and Bart are what keep me coming back. And the ensemble, of course. They're all wonderful.
I'll be there Tuesday. =) That's how you know you love a show. When they put Tony Danza in it and you'll still go back and see it. LOL
We were fated to be mated. We're Bialystock & Bloom!
So did anyone else notice that the title poster at the opening of the video says Tony Danza and Hunter Foster when clearly that's Roger Bart as Leo in the video? Just thought it was kinda funny. -BJH
