Lempicka needs to cut their losses and pack it up. Even Heart of Rock and Roll is out-grossing them now. And $48 average? Big yikes.

I’m wondering what’s the over/under on Stereophonic becoming an open-ended run? With 13 nominations and poised to take quite a few (yes, I’m aware they can only get a maximum of 10 due to doubling and tripling in the acting categories), this could take off like a rocket.

Heart of R&R makes me sad because it’s so fun, but it was definitely a bad timing situation. If it held off until the summer, it probably could’ve been less subject to a financial drubbing.

Hell's Kitchen took in almost 1.3 million last week on the heels of its positive notices. I think people here have really been underestimating it.

I recognize it's in the 2nd biggest theatre but Gatsby being in the million dollar club with 5th lowest average ticket price is wild.

Next week's will be interesting to see the impact of the Tony nominations.

Decent start for Illinoise.

Oh look, a bibu!

Curious how the reviews will affect Cabaret going forward. The Wiz is the one that continues to surprise me the most.

Honestly, for how packed this Spring is, a lot of things are doing better than I expected. Water For Elephants, Gatsby, Hell's Kitchen, Outsiders, Tommy are all definitely making money (or ther producers are truly idiots) and I imagine Notebook is on the cusp as well. Suffs probably still dipping into reserves, but it's been improving week-to-week. Very different shows, but it does remind me of where Shucked was this time last year.

Tony noms have a relatively negligible effect. But, I do think that the toplines can give shows a bump. Hell's Kitchen and Stereophonic at 13 and Outsiders at 12 will hopefulley have an effect next week.

Suffs is a show that really needs that Tony Award to run.  I’m pulling for them.

Ouch ouch ouch Lempicka. Heart of Rock and Roll was up but not enough to save it. Hell's Kitchen is looking really good and all the other newbies are hanging in there. I agree Suffs really needs some momentum that the Tonys could provide.

Six and Book of Mormon have been getting softer lately.

I'm disappointed that Kimberly didn't have a bigger final week.

actually both shows are doing very well. I don’t see any effect.

"The Wiz" doing well should surprise nobody. I've always known reviews for this wouldn't matter, much like "Back to the Future". It's a family show that's also a cultural staple that people want to experience and going into the summer, it's just going to continue to rake in the tourist dollars.

Heart of Rock n Roll still at the bottom of grosses and zero love from Tony! I think it's over.

Oof, Lempicka.  I'm cofused though....was this the week that Eden missed performances or was she back on all week? (I'm too damn old to keep it straight.)

Oh, and look, Broadway Flash, despite you doubling down on Gatsby, it hasn't had a sold out week for the past THREE weeks.  (I'm not saying being in the 90s is bad, by any stretch - just pointing out the facts.)

I hate to say this, but what packs it in first- HoRR or Lempicka?

Probably because mostly the show's biggest fans showed up. Too many new shows to catch up to and to spend limited money on.

Reposting my opinion from the other thread...

As far as musicals go, HoR&R and LEMPICKA are the only closing notices I expect before the Tonys. I could see LEMPICKA waiting until after Thursday's Tony Nominees Press Junket to announce, so Eden & Amber don't get bombarded with questions about the closing.

SUFFS, OUTSIDERS, and HELL'S KITCHEN all feel like equal possibilities for Best Musical, and they'll be running rigorous campaigns. The next 8 weeks will dictate the lengths of runs.

BACK TO THE FUTURE is going nowhere unless its grosses dip a lot.

ILLINOISE and THE WIZ are limited runs through August. Sunset starts Sept 28 at the St. James. The Wiz probably wants to extend through January if sales allow (tour resumes in early 2025)

Everything else feels destined to close in 4-8 months (between September & January), depending on how the grosses are. TOMMY, NOTEBOOK, W4E, GATSBY. Other Best Musical losers may join this list if sales don't continue to build.

Illinoise can extend to a smaller theater....maybe Booth is too small?

Kimberly Akimbo could've closed in January and made room for a new show to take that theater.

Illinoise would have to move to extend, yes?  First previews of SB are late September, I believe.

Agreed and this makes me even more sad that we didn't get a better quality production. The show and fans deserve so much better.

January 2024 or 2025? 2025 would have been a long time to go at the rate of their grosses...

"

They clearly meant January 2024, which would have freed up the Booth to I guess add another show to this bloated season. Personally, I’m glad they didn’t. This season had plenty and nothing else waiting in the wings for a theater would have benefitted from squeezing in last minute.

Because what this season needed was another show.

Ohh right, I forgot about SUNSET making an ILLINOISE extension impossible.

Demand would have to be incredibly high for ILL to move to a new theatre. ATG/Jujamcyn would probably get first dibs since that's where it is now.

Or just tour it.
