I saw first preview on Tuesday. I’m pretty much in the middle on it. Deidre O’Connell is making lots of bold choices but her performance was so quiet and intimate at moments it almost felt like she was acting for a camera rather than on a stage. The audience collectively had major difficulty understanding her. That said, her Becky is sad and broken and lovely.

the play itself is very interesting. I ‘d highly recommend reading the Lincoln Center show book/brochure they have available for insight from Sara Ruhl and others on the inspiration behind it (don’t want to give anything away.)

I would definitely advise giving this one some time to find its footing but there’s the makings of something really good there.

This is very interesting, considering the promo trailer they made for it. Just judging by the trailer -- granted, it was just generic Shutterstock photos, quick bits of text, cast headshots, set to a jazzy piano trio tune -- I would have thought it was much more sitcom-y, broad humor than described above. Still, wish I could see it!

this was very much a comedy when it premiered at Berkeley Rep in 2020....

Has anyone else seen this? I was hoping they would extend into January since I had tickets for the first week which was cancelled. Looks like they end at the end of December.

The play is a total mess but pretty entertaining. It felt like a long episode of Gilmore Girls. It has no idea what it wants to be or what it wants to say and has laughably gaping plot holes. It's a pretty silly night at the theatre with some overacting. Worth a cheap ticket but not a must see. The set was surprisingly cheap and bare bones for Lincoln Center.

Bumping this thread to see if anyone else had thoughts.  I'm intrigued by the concept and Deirdre's performance but there's also some other stuff I want to see so trying to decide if I should make room for this before I leave for the holidays.
