HOLY COW! This new version sounds amazing! Not to shade the West End recording, but this sounds 100 times better!

Interesting that they have a Since U Been Gone (Juliet's Version), isn't it usually sung by Juliet anyway in the show?

Cool. AGT doesn't come on here on the West Coast for another 10 minutes. Now I can go to bed early. (Ok I could do that anyways since I set my pvr - up at 5 for work) This didn't move me to "run out & buy" but I'm still over 6 months away from when I'll be back in NY.
I'm seeing Katy Perry in about 1 month in Las Vegas, so it will be interesting to see how she stages this song in her show there.

I listened to "Roar" yesterday and then saw the AGT performance — Lorna sounds incredible live. Looks like a sh*tload of money was put into this thing.
I love Lorna's namesake "Juliet" necklace she wears, and did anyone else notice the hidden quill in Juliet's costume for the end of the song? Clever touch.
Looking forward to hearing the entire album.

Is it just me or is this whole thing lipsung?
It feels like a weird choice because it's both a tv show about live performers competing and a Broadway-bound musical that is always live.

Here’s a first listen of Courtney performing “…Baby One More Time”:
"The song, co-orchestrated and arranged by two-time GRAMMY winner Bill Sherman, builds on a greater string section and nods to Martin's original piano riff; it also introduces newcomer Lorna Courtney.
'The plodding strings and drums are akin to Juliet's heartbeat as she describes the trouble that she is in and how she longs to change her path. As we were creating the overall tone and sound of the show, we thought that the string quartet could act as the glue between today's pop music and the sounds of the Shakespearean era,' Sherman tells GRAMMY.com."

I listened to the whole album. I like it well enough but I didn’t listen to the London cast album enough times to really notice any differences between the two albums other than the cast of course. The Since U Been Gone bonus track is sung by Kelly Clarkson and Lorna Courtney. That’s likely why it says Juliet’s Version so as not to confuse it with Clarkson’s original recording.

I'm starting my listen with my fave song from the soundtrack, "Show Me Love". They added some of the dialogue, and there were some minor changes to the instrumentals and harmonies, but it's mostly the same (not that this is a problem). Apart from Lorna Courtney's American accent, the vocals are eerily similar to the West End version...

Listened to more of my fave songs from the soundtrack. Lorna Courtney doesn't have the same inner fire as Miriam Teak-Lee, but the singing is generally excellent. The "magic" that this musical relies on is still there...

As William Shakespeare once said, "If music be the food of love, play chart-toppers from the last 25 years."
This is a fun album full of killer vocals and some trademark Martin hooks, plus more dialogue than its London counterpart. Songs that I thought I never wanted to hear again — mainstream radio really does overplay them — burst with new optimism and urgency. There are a few clever two-song medleys, but I was hoping for a Moulin Rouge!-style show-stopping mashup of about 5-7 songs somewhere. Still, I would be pleased if this show garners Bill Sherman a Tony nom for Orchestrations.
Most of the principals sound solid. Ben Jackson Walker and Paulo Szot feel a little out of place here — Walker sounds somewhat bland and Szot's operatic baritone doesn't feel like a good fit for the material at hand.
I get the feeling New York audiences will love this show... we shall find out later tonight.
