There is probably something in the contracts they have that prevents them from doing this. I was trying to do a movie screening for a non-profit and had to go through so many avenues to clear the rights and still had to pay a lot of money.

Netflix's THE PROM official thread/reviews/reactions Dec 11
2020, 09:57:25 PM
I've never seen the musical itself, but have listened to the soundtrack plenty and have seen YouTube videos of their taped performances. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and thought it was a lot of fun. I'm normally not a fan of the bright neon pinks and blues, but I thought it worked well for the overall imagery.
After reading all the reviews, I thought I would hate James, and I think in the beginning I had a hard time really believing that he was this flamboyant, but I th

Samantha Barks to play Elsa in the West End production of FROZEN Dec 10
2020, 03:37:49 PM
It looks like the Australia production is using the US tour's version of the sets: Elsa's transformation staircase, short ice bridge for "What Do You Know About Love" and no roundtable.
I wonder if all future productions will be utilizing these, or if the West End will get some of the pieces from the Broadway production that closed, which they said they would be repurposing.

Thanksgiving Day g vv ..mm v2020 - Broadway Plans Nov 26
2020, 03:16:46 PM
It just feels refreshing to see and hear new Broadway performances. I didn't mind JLP's performance, I thought they were fine right up until the very end, but I was just happy to see them together and glad they were singing live.

I love the new trailer! It looks like they're using some of the original Casey Nicholaw choreography.

Bad Cinderella Nov 4

I wanted to hate this song, but now I can't stop listening to it. I really love the incorporation of "In My Own Little Corner."
It really does give me SIX vibes, which I think works in its favor.
I also like that the lyric "barking mad, Cinderella" sounds more like a fun expletive which would fit in with the song just as well.

I think the "low energy" is the difference between what makes a movie and what makes a musical. Musicals have to play to the back row, while movies a

Favorite Glinda? Aug 30
2020, 01:38:38 PM
Megan Hilty perfectly embodied Glinda and her vocals were just phenomenal.
Saw Kara Lindsay on the 15th anniversary tour and found her to be the funniest Glinda (without being cheesy) I have ever seen.

CEO of Equity Salary $400,000 while 99% of actors equity now unemployed Jul 10
2020, 11:49:56 AM
Yes, $400,000 is actually pretty low on the CEO scale. And one who is willing to take a true pay cut and not some BS stock option cut.
And while it sucks that everyone below her is probably unemployed, she is the one responsible for keeping everything going during this pandemic. The fact that she chooses to stay and is (probably) doing what she can to make things right and to make the right decisions is a very tough job.

Favorite Christine Daae Jun 29
2020, 12:18:18 PM
I was floored by Ali Ewoldt's performance as Christine. I've seen various productions, including the Vegas one, and Ali just encapsulates Christine so well. Her voice is pure perfection.
I've also seen Meghan Picerno in Love Never Dies twice and thought to myself "Man, I would love to see her play Christine in POTO" and was so excited to see that she's playing on Broadway now!

I also felt that way after leaving Hadestown. I was very excited to see Eva and her voice is pure perfection, but after the show, I felt no impact from her character. I'm not sure if it's how the character is written/directed, and I

Ben Platt on Netflix May 29
2020, 12:21:33 PM
I think he's kind of like the musical Britney Spears. There are plenty of talented singers that are far superior to him, but it's the specific way he tells the story in his singing that I think resonates with his fans.
I agree, I don't think big power ballads are his thing, sometimes it sounds like he's yodeling. I actually find his music more soothing when it's softer and even if he's almost just talking.
It's the unique sound of his voice

Even if you didn't care for the album, you might still enjoy his performance.
I remember a song that I did't like on the album, but it ended up being my favorite performance when I saw his show live in LA.
It's a fun 90 minutes to kind of get to know Ben Platt as a person beyond Broadway.

Why the hate for moulin rouge May 19
2020, 07:02:24 PM
I enjoyed it purely for spectacle. I loved that they didn't use screens and instead focused on amazing lighting and practical sets.
The hardest part for me was to take any of the drama seriously. So much of it felt so tounge-in-cheek that at the end when it was supposed to be this big dramatic finale, it just fell flat and I was just waiting for the "encore" to liven things up again.
This is not a critique on any of the actors who put on a fabulous show

Frozen on Broadway - Where did they go wrong? May 15

I strangely really love this musical, even though I can never watch the movie again and didn't care for the sequel. I've seen it on Broadway twice and saw it on tour in LA twice. I much prefer this show over TLK and Aladdin.
Much as I adore Caissie Levy, I found her Elsa so underwhelming. You just didn't see much transformation from scared Elsa in the beginning to "Let It Go" Elsa. Add that to an underwhelming set, and it just didn't have the impact I wa

Interesting that the LA Times suggesting that major sports may be out until 2021. Granted, sports is scheduled in predetermined seasons, but I think it's similar enough to the gathering of people both as an audience and behind-the-scenes.
