Having just returned from a few weeks in London, I made a beeline back to the St. James today to see my beloved show, with Cheyenne. I was very happy to see all the principal actors in and giving even better performances than they were giving just a couple weeks ago, when I last saw it. How do you all of these people keep improving? Just when I thought they were all giving perfect performances, they go and make them even better.

But I wanted to make sure I saw Cheyenne, who really did blow me away. His performance is just so different from Gavins, it’s not even possible to compare them. I suppose you can only compare them by their contrasts. For example, Cheyenne’s last scene saying goodbye to Cinderella, made me tear up. The line “I was raised to be charming not sincere” is a funny line. Always has been. However today, it was said with such sincerity not as a joke or excuse but almost a self realization. I’m so happy I got to see him and happier yet I’m going back in a couple days to see him one last time.

But yeah, I’m the two weeks I’ve been away everyone has added to their performances and not at all in ways that are over the top or unnecessary. If you have a chance to just focus on Phillipa at the start of the act one finale, she does this little dance with her hands that just cracked me up.

I continue to thank the theater Gods for this revival.

Per Instagram, Sara is out today due to a “series of very convoluted and annoying viral events”.

Not sure if that means she tested positive for COVID today or not.

I’m sadly out of our beloved woods today. It’s out of my control I’m so sorry and so frustrated. Hoping to be back Tuesday. Love you all so much!

Hope she is better soon……so grateful to have finally seen this Saturday evening, full cast with Cheyenne, and and Sara was in phenomenal voice. She is the perfect Bakers wife.

Cheyenne was brilliant, and Brian was just as great as i knew he would be as the Baker, but  I was completely blown away with Phillipa’s  Cinderella. So LOVED her performance, and I pray she'll continue with the extension.

Hate to admit, I am not sold on Patina’s take on the witch. Not at all. Far too restrained as the hag, no menace whatsoever in act one, and didn’t land any of the comedic touches. Her voice was lovely, and she got a bit stronger in Act 2,  but she’s just not a good fit in an otherwise perfect production, imo.

Cannot wait to return to the woods

Glad you got to go back and see it again, and thank you for another excellent report on how you felt about your favorite show so wonderfully realized again. That description of Cinderella's Prince realizing he's only charming, not sincere, sounds kinda chilling!

I am seeing this in September and even bought really good seats. Do you guys think Brian, Sara, Gavin, an Phillipa will still be there? Or at least some of them?

I am just wondering if anyone can tell me if there are any sight problems with getting Orchestra Extreme Left or Extreme Right tickets? Any guidance would be very much appreciated. Thank you

Out of curiosity will you be seeing the Terry Gilliam production in the UK?

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

Extreme left and very close might impede some since the narrator is at a perch at the proscenium edge. That being said the show is directed with almost all of the action taking place down center. I don’t think you would miss too much with extreme side seats.

Am I crazy or do the Giant’s feet move in a completely unrealistic way at one point? They stop stage left and she “turns around” but the feet just flip one after the other. IDK…it just irked me. Anyone else notice this?

I was going to be going over but plans changed and I don’t think I’ll be able to make it  I’m hoping such a  high profile production either tours or has a West End run so I can see it.

Does anyone know if there is a seat geek promo that can still be used?

You can use any seat geek promo, but I'm not sure if there are any right now.

Finally saw this, full cast on.  This production is truly magical.  The audience had a great energy (wild but respectful applause at the appropriate places, near immediate standing ovation at the end).

Give me that cast recording now.

I am not sure how it worked, but I used the Microsoft browser to buy my ticket and a box that said “search discounts” popped up. I clicked it and it took $20 off my $79 partial view ticket in row B orchestra. I BELIEVE the discount code was “PHIL”

The Broadway week for September code worked great for this show. Anyone saying otherwise is WRONG.

I just finished season 2 of Girls5Eva and I kept picturing Rannells as Cinderella's Prince.

Yes, PHIL worked for me the other day on a Hadestown ticket, and it didn't have to be a first purchase on a new account, which was great.

how bad is partial view here? I'd rather not spend $150+ for front mezz, but if partial view is brutal ill just spend the extra cash.

Actors are known to go to shows for, like, fun and to support friends, too.
