I wonder if any other original cast will join this. Mark Jacoby reprising as father? Lea Michelle as little girl(lol)?
Favorite Stephen Sondheim Musical... Dec 17

If I may ask Jarethan, what did you think about the 2013 west end version of merrily? That pro shot is the only version of the show I’ve seen, and I thought it was quite excellent.

Lullabies from musicals? Nov 8

How about 'Children and Art' from Sunday in the Park? The version on the 2017 Cast Recording especially sounds like a lullaby, to me at least.

I do agree that if it isn't that then it should be a new musical, and not another cursed jukebox."
I think the point being made is that if you're going to do a 5th Gypsy revival, you've got to ha

Whatever she’s doing, I hope it’s a new musical that hasn’t been announced yet. We’re so lacking for good new musicals coming out right now."

Ironically, both are Sunday in the Park. First time was the revival in '08, I was offered to go to that or a Yankees game by my parents, ended up choosing the Yankees. Second time was the revival with Jake Gyllenhaal in 2017, I wasn't as into theater then, but looking back I would have gone to see that in a heartbeat. Same with Hello Dolly with Bernadette Peters. Strongly considering making a trip to London next summer just for Sunday.

I personally don’t get the argument. At the same time I do trust that the creatives involved in this production would have cast others if they thought they were better for the role. The director is not incognisant of diversity issues - she just directed an all black version
To clarify: I’m mostly talking about his last paragraph. His first two actually are pretty true with hanging out with people of your own race. Maybe I’m the one who’s off base here but that’s how it read to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
Man, idk. Your post is really just a long winded way to say that only white people should be cast, which is just ridiculous. If we limited all revivals the the same race as their predecessors, then what’s the point of a revival? Broadway is so much more diverse today then it was 30 years ago, much less the 100 years of shows it has. Why can’t a person of color play a white person’s role? Hell this revival’s whole point is changing the gend

I see, is this a hard rule? Or just a trend they’ve stuck with.
I think after DEH Ben Platt is definitely a ‘name’. That show rode the post-Hamilton wave of new broadway relevancy right into the average American’s zeitgeist
Stupid question though: Does roundabout only do 1 revival a season? Is there a reason why?
Best staging of a duet? Oct 27

I've always liked the staging of 'Color and Light' in the OBC Sunday in the Park. George and Dot focusing on their own passions(George with his painting, Dot doing makeup trying to make him happy). And then the final note at the end of the song as they stare intensely at each other.
Maybe not the most creative but I still I love it so.

I won't say who that person is because he is currently working on Broadway and he is trying to make a living, he is not a star or a performer but had to deal with her backstage and would go home crying every night."

Do we think that this revival will get professionally filmed and released on BroadwayHD, Fathom Events, DVD/Blu-Ray, etc? Considering that almost every single Sondheim musical does get ProShot (Sweeney Todd, Sunday in the Park with George, Into The Woods, Passion and of course Company) will they continue the tradition because I would love to be able to own the version for home viewing
