This is from a television special in 1955 where she recreated a scene with Hume Cronyn as Mitch but it’s actual video of Tandy’s Blanche (the one performance I’d go back in time to see, if I could).

Just remarkable. And the comments from Cronyn are so touching.

What a find! What a joy to watch.

My favorite show! I've gone back and listened to the 30 minute radio version with Jessica Tandy so I could recite the dialogue along with her more times than I care to admit. "It came like a bolt from the blue..."

Thank you, Jordan. Sometimes there's God so quickly!

I’ve watched those few minutes like 10 times already. I can’t believe it exists. And that 30 minute radio version is one of the best things that’s ever been recorded.

I was impressed by how pretty she was -- and also pulled together.  We usually think of Blanche as at the edge of madness -- but not in this scene.

She’s got a certain Kate McKinnon facial structure there… I’d watch that audition, if not that production.

I’m sure if Kate wanted, she could capture Tandy’s acting style if she put her mind to it.  On SNL she was showcased often parodying that 30s-40s acting style.  A full on production of Kate McKinnon as Jessica Tandy in A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE would be interesting.

Tandy was gorgeous. She kinda resembles Scarlett Johansson a bit in this pic.

I wish I could take a time machine back to see Tandy in Streetcar and Barbara Bel Geddes in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

It’s funny that I said Kate and you said Scarlett; I’ve always thought that a low-glamour Scarlett looks a lot like Kate.
