Other shows like Ain’t No Mo’ incorporated these norms explicitly into their structure, and it’s clear that the Black cast and creative team were visibly moved and appreciative of the vocal support of their community. A closing show (especially of a show like this) is a time for the community of people who love it to come together and express their connection to the material. The way they do that might differ in a show with a predominantly POC cast/creative team/fan base, and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. Theatre is for everyone, not just for white people."

Well said - and more generally speaking: "etiquette" in any given situation is effectively set by mutual expectations. I find that when everyone is doing something, it's rarely distracting, because it becomes part of the experience. Ironically, the Rocky Horror screenings are a perfect example of that.

"

This. All of this. I'm white as winter snow (despite being part Hispanic) and being at shows like A STRANGE LOOP, AIN'T NO MO, and TOPDOG/UNDERDOG has helped me navigate and challenge my ideas of how to respond to theatre. I've brought many queer POC friends to ASL and they had vocal reactions to what they saw because they saw themselves and were able to relate. Who am I to control someone's reaction to theatre, unless they are actively disrupting the performers onstage (Example: That drunk guy at DEATH OF A SALESMAN)

It really sucks that both Antwayn and Zachary couldn't be there. Just another bit of bad luck for a show marred by terrible luck.

I’m assuming that based on the change of their Twitter handle, they’ll officially be announcing A Strange Loop going to LONDON soon!

Has anyone heard any casting rumors for the London production? I just saw a post on Instagram that said less than 2 months until performances start…seems odd to not have any sort of rumor or announcement as of yet.

I am big. It’s the REVIVALS that got small.

It's confirmed none of the Broadway cast are going over to London, but I don't think this is going to be a show that's going to have "star casting" that would merit rumors. I think it might be a cast of mostly West End debuts breaking out like the Broadway production was. I just hope they maintain Thought #1 casting as a trans woman.

I realize a lot of things about the show have been unusual, but I'm wondering about the timing of this. If they weren't planning even a mini-tour of major cities, why wait this long? I have been assuming one of the ambitious San Francisco Bay Area companies would take a crack at this, but there's been nothing thus far. But I guess it was only just made available.

Then again, it took Great Comet more than five years to make its West Coast debut at the Shotgun Players in Berkeley, and now it's already about to start at another Bay Area theater.

The idea is to work and to experiment. Some things will be creatively successful, some things will succeed at the box office, and some things will only - which is the biggest only - teach you things that see the future. And they're probably as valuable as any of your successes. -Harold Prince

I was shocked as well! I got to see him last year on Broadway and loved his Usher performance! He's gonna do great!

Happy for Kyle. Well deserved! Hopefully he does the US tour, too, if it goes out next year.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
