I hope so too! Do transfers usually keep the original casts?

West End transfers?  It just depends. There's not a "usual", unfortunately. Most recently...

Tina obviously had Adrienne on both sides of the pond, the revival of Cats had Leona Lewis on Broadway but Nicole Scherzinger was in the West End production, Hadestown had everybody (but that originated in the States), Angels in America had some cast changes, nearly every principal from the Miss Saigon revival were in both productions, Michael Xavier and Glenn Close did Sunset here and in the UK, The Color Purple revival brought in Cynthia, American Psycho had a completely different cast (I believe)...

I could see them bringing only Carrie... doubtful they'd bring Ivano over, too, but probably no one else from the West End cast.

I wonder if there is the possibility Carrie won't follow Cinderella across the pond? Though I know Katharine McPhee played Jenna on Broadway and the West End (which was more of a Broadway to West End, I believe), so I agree with you about Carrie coming from the West End to also play Cinderella on Broadway. If Ivano doesn't follow, I wonder who might play Prince Sebastian hmmm.

I know this is too soon to speculate, but do we think Cinderella could be up for Tonys?

Carrie is good and the role suits her - ALW probably LOVES the way she sings the songs, so cleanly and purely. However, I do think there might be an opportunity to have a grittier Broadway interpretation with an unusual/unique timbre to the voice. Where is the next Bernadette Peters, Patti LuPone or Betty Buckley to fill these shoes?

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

In an Instagram Q&A thing on her page, she was asked if Cinderella came to Broadway would she want go to go and she ENTHUSIASTICALLY said [paraphrasing] she would do it in a heartbeat.  I also think she said that her contract ends in July 2022.  I really hope she does come because I need to see her live.

I’ve said before that having spoken to her, I’d (at least at this point in time) put down money that she 100% transfers with it. Being on Broadway is a lifelong dream of hers which there’s no way she’d pass up.

I love how even though the show is billed as "Andrew Lloyd Webber's CINDERELLA" he never hesitates to start off by mentioning Emerald Fennell and her contributions as bookwriter and her recent Oscar win. Class act.

Random question/thought: Has ALW ever confirmed or event referenced that the melody from “Bad Cinderella” is similar to “In My Own Little Corner”?

I’ve noticed they’ve been marketing the show pretty exclusively with “Bad Cinderella” so far.

If I’m understanding what’s going on with the show right now, the audience sat in their seats for an hour last night waiting for the show that was eventually canceled and never happened, while backstage the actors were trying to be convinced to go on, even though there had been positive Covid cases and ignoring protocols for their safety.

Who are you on TheatreBoard, Jordan? HAHA! Teasing.

Yes, I'm seeing this to. This is insane. If it's true, I personally think the producers (ahem ahem) should face consequences.

Can someone enlighten me, and forgive me if I sound snarky here

Why on god’s green earth should I be excited for ANOTHER god damn Cinderella with a “twist on an old tale”?

like is this actually good? Is this over the top good? Has a real case been made by Andrew Lloyd Webber why we need to explore this property again?

I’m genuinely curious. If you aren’t tired of seeing this story adapted in a million ways then what is pulling you into being pumped for this?

The article says they are looking for actors for the role of Cinderella. Please tell me that Equity did not bar Carrie Hope Fletcher! I will riot if they do this yet again! London has so many amazing actors that deserve to perform on Broadway and I do not understand why Actors Equity has to be so cruel about it!

The idea is to work and to experiment. Some things will be creatively successful, some things will succeed at the box office, and some things will only - which is the biggest only - teach you things that see the future. And they're probably as valuable as any of your successes. -Harold Prince

Could they be casting for an alternate (which I believe they had in London), or a standby/understudy?

Hopefully, it's just for the Cinderella Alternate. Carrie is so talented and deserves to perform on Broadway. I am just anxious that Actors Equity is yet again going to bar a talented actor/actress from London to perform on Broadway.

Unless a big named American performer wanted to do the role, I would guess Carrie would get it. Just don’t forget how Webber is notoriously fickle. If someone he considered to be a bigger name wanted to do it, he’d drop her like a hot potato. I can’t think of anyone at the moment who would be famous enough to knock her out of contention.

Hope Webber learned his lesson after firing Patti LuPone from Sunset Boulevard all those years ago.

I don't think Webber will fire Carrie as he wants her to play this role on Broadway. I am more worried that the stupid Equity may bar her because she's not "American". They have no respect for overseas talent and it's ridiculous!

I thought so, and anyway hasn’t there been an exchange program for years where as long as there’s an equal exchange, they’ve been fine with actors coming over to work?

Didn't Patti have a contract for NYC when she was dropped? That's probably not the case with Carrie so there would be no controversy.

As for hiring non-US citizens, that has become much much easier over the past few years. It would be a non-issue for the lead of a big musical.

We'll see what happens. I'm sure Carrie is good in the role, but there are probably a dozen women who could do it equally well.
