I mean, am I really the only one that finds it suspicious?
"

No, you are not the only one.  I have searched, but found nothing about this topic except for what has been posted here.  That doesn't mean the info is not out there, of course.  I exchanged with the OP, but those posts were deleted by BWW.  Fair enough.  But the fact that he refers to me as a "Boomer," and retitled his own thread to BoomerWorld, makes me question his motives here.

Just seems like a boomer thing to defend racism and get your feelings hurt over being called a boomer is all.  I apologize for the hurt it caused.  Now it’s Randy’s turn.

That Daily Dot thing was published yesterday morning, but I realize you guys would rather see this as a conspriacy than see the faults in your heros.

Please don't lump all boomers together.  Not a single boomer I know would say that these tweets were not racist nor offensive.

Moreover, none of them would say that the world or humor was different in 2010 - there is nothing in his tweets that were not just as racist or offensive in 2010 as they are today.

Nor in 1965, 1980, 1990, or 2000. Just ask a boomer.

RR has been such a fixture at BWW that it was inevitable that his trove of old tweets would be posted here eventually, whether it was by this specific OP or someone else.

You’re right.  It was cruddy of me and I’m sorry.  It was a reaction to Highland Guy posting (in now deleted posts) that I was a racist for saying “Me no think so.”  He said I was making fun of people (he named a specific race!) who are ESL and I pointed out that racists usually wind up telling on themselves.

I won’t use Boomer as insult here again. My grandparents are boomers and they are pretty okay. smiley

Wow, those tweets are not only racist but they're so unfunny. How embarrassing for him! But you know the old adage "You reap what you sow" and the other one: "Karma comes back to bite you on the behind" - He will and it does.

Wow his tweets are very disappointing, to put it mildly.

I absolutely don’t believe in cancel culture, and I hope he apologises and we can move on. It beggars belief he didn’t delete them years ago.

As I see it, no one should take at face value anything that seems righteous... be it an apology from Randy Rainbow, OR you as a poster to suddenly appear with many posts about Randy freaking Rainbow... you know, the world's complex...

Dear Randy Rainbow Apologists,

Please be advised that it was never okay to be racist or transphobic and post jokes on social media that reflected those sentiments ten years ago. It was not okay ten years ago and it most certainly is not okay now!

It is never okay to be racist or transphobic. PERIOD.

Y'all are free to move on, but the thousands of marginalized people's backs he built his racist career on probably wont be able to. Lmao. I for one am not ready to move on after his apology (that he still hasn't issued, despite deleting the tweets and liking praise for his latest video on Twitter.)

I wanna see the monthly donations he'll be making to The Okra Project. I wanna see him give his BroadwayWorld show (or whatever it is) to a black trans person.

Do you know how many white celebrities just fully do not have racist pasts? Do you know how many cis celebrities have known to never say the T slur? Like......many of them. Some of y'all still do not get it.

The key word here is context. Words have no meaning outside of their context. As I have said before, it was not ok to traffic in words and ideas that were at the expense of others 50 years ago. RR was born into a world in which we knew better than to make jokes that exploited prejudice and made bigots feel like they were validated. RR entered 2020 knowing that his cruel jokes that have been highlighted in this thread were still out there and he did nothing to address his past. In the last 72 hours nothing he has done suggests that he gets it. We have been talking lately about systemic racism. This, friends, is what we are talking about. Face it. Reject it. Stop apologizing for it. Some of what I am reading in this thread is beyond pathetic.

So, he said all this. He never bothered to delete it until today. He didn't care about hurting or offending every single person he targeted. So, don't give him space here at Broadway World. Don't watch his videos. Don't make threads highlighting his videos so he gets more attention.

So, Rob and the rest of the staff: You have a choice to make. When you proclaimed "Black Lives Matter", did you mean it?  When you proclaim that you stand with LGBQIA+ people, did you mean it?  If so, please don't pay, employ, or give a platform to a man that says racist, homophobic, Islamophobic, sexist, violent, horrifying statements that are not jokes. There is nothing funny about that man. Nothing at all.

I wanna see him give his BroadwayWorld show (or whatever it is) to a black trans person.

Amazing idea. This man will never issue a genuine apology. Your move, BWW.

Hogan is right, and as I poked fun at another ATC poster earlier, this person also has it right:

The racist tweets were barely read by the look of the twitter stats. There is a certain irony that exposing them could actually make people more offended than they originally did.

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances?
