I’m seeing it tonight. As someone who’s been in love with Tudor history for the last 12 years I was skeptical about this show at first. Was in London last year and saw all the adverts at the tube stations. Thought it was cute, but didn’t have any time to see it. I lived to regret it. The music is fantastic! Can’t wait to see how well put together the show is. And of course how historically accurate it truly is. That is my one issue, the accuracy.

Scared to try to record the megasix, and sad that Broadway isn’t allowing (for now) something that makes the West End show and all tours so unique. I hope that changes before opening.

Lots of people filmed the Megasix last night. I “sneakily” filmed the very end (the Divorced.. beheaded lineup). While I’m not encouraging anyone to break the rules I doubt they can control it that much and probably expect filming. We’ll see if the ushers start stopping people.

Given all the good buzz, I want to go ahead and get tickets for our May trip.

How is the Mezzanine? Is it worth the extra $50 to sit in rows A through D (Front Mezz) instead of Row E and further back?

I honestly think you’ll be fine regardless. Seems like you’d be hard pressed to find a “bad” seat for this show. I was in the front box in the house left side last night (which was EXTREMELY partial view for Waitress) and thought it was lovely.

Also a Tudor history buff here! I haven't seen it since August 2018 but I remember being surprisingly impressed by the accuracy, certainly in comparison to prominent stuff like Philippa Gregory's work and the tv show "The Tudors." I don't love Anne Boleyn's characterization, at least in her song– the dialogue maybe is more nuanced, I don't exactly remember. But Catherine Howard's is better than the usual, and I loved Anne of Cleves. So it kind of balances out.

To clarify - not all the tour stops allowed filming.   Boston sure didn't.  (and I know there were others.   Again, I don't understand why people care to video something that thousands of people have already videotaped.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I was surprised how ditzy and flirty Anne Boleyn is, just from hearing the songs. She was one of the most important but hated women from 1529-1536. She was politically savvy and very religious.

Love Anna of Cleves. She gets so much flack because she was ‘ugly’.

Katherine Howard surprisingly is my favorite in this show. She was naive and a product of her environment, but she gets a lot of heat for her adultery.

Can’t wait to see how it goes on stage!

I'm very curious to see how the Tonys will react to this show as far as acting noms.

Does everyone is so great that no one really stands out?

None of them will win a Tony individually- there isn’t enough to the ‘roles’. The only way they could win is if they are collectively nominated, which I don’t think is possible.

Allow me to agree with all of the positive notes. This is a witty, hugely energetic, exceedingly clever romp. I had so much fun over the 85 minutes and cannot wait to see it again. As mentioned, the enthusiasm in the crowd was infectious - and this format lends itself to it. I smell a big hit.

I'm so happy to see all this positive buzz!  I knew the show was fantastic in Chicago just as it was and I was a tiny bit concerned the Broadway production might try to Jekyll-and-Hyde it in the transfer to make it more "BROADWAY".  Thankfully, that doesn't seem to be the case.  Of course, I need to get tickets now as this is obviously going to be tough to get pretty soon.

The only way they could win is if they are collectively nominated, which I don’t think is possible.

Unless the producers and the Tonys agree on a "special" Tony for the Queens, opening up the category for everyone else (similar to what was given to the Matildas after the Billy Elliot backlash).  Otherwise the producers would have to petition for any of the actors to be nominated for Lead considering non of them are billed above the title and there is no clear leading role in the show.

I think it would be smarter for them to try to get a couple of them nominated in featured role since basically each one is "featured" and leading actress is quite competitive this year, and by my count there aren't as many featured actress roles to round out the category. Haven't seen the show yet so if you had to only pick one or two queens, are there any that stand out? It definitely seems to be more of an ensemble piece overall.

C'mon, we all know that Anne Boleyn is the lead Queen.  Sorry, not sorry.

I don't have a favourite, they are all amazing. I always dread Parr for some reason, but then am always so blown away by the vocals I can forgive the less than stellar start of the song.

I tear up at Seymour EVERY time I've seen it.

Cleeves is hilarious if you get a good one, as is Boleyn and Howard still sends me reeling every time.

The most important Queen however is Aragon. Believe me if that performer does not nail that opening, the whole show falls apart. I've seen 2 understudies flatline the show by flubbing it. It throws all the girls off for the whole show and if the crowd aren't on board after that song, you're never getting them back..

Also for me the moment you know you are watching something really special, is the nunnery line in No Way where their harmonies kick in and the crosses appear on the LCD's and the chorus crashes in. It's such a clever WOW moment!

You needn't take that tone– I love the show overall and I'm eager to see it again! I just have some reservations.

For the record, the Olivier Awards nominated collectively all ''Six'' queens for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, but they lost to Patti LuPone in ''Company.'' In fact, ''Six'' had 5 Olivier nominations, but went home empty-handed - losing Best Musical, Theater Choreography and Music to ''Come From Away,'' and losing Costume Design to ''The King and I.''

Win a Tony individually, naw. BUT do we think that anyone could be NOMINATED for featured over the others? Does anyone impress just a TOUCH more that they could take a spot or do they all just cancel one another out?

And they won't do a collective Tony nomination for them. That's for sure. But could they pull a Matilda and give a special award for ensemble or something?

Listening to the London recording tonight in preparation for seeing it on B’way two weeks from tonight.

Two questions:

1. In one of the threads awhile back someone posted about which female singer each Queen was meant to resemble musically/vocally. Can anyone recall?

So far: I think:

No Way - Beyonce
Don’t Lose Ur Head - Lily Allen

2. It’s driving me crazy but “Ex-Wives” has sections that seem to resemble a well know (possibly Christmas?) song. Anyone hear that or am I just crazy? Lol

For a nomination, I think Sam Pauly(Howard) and Brittany Mack (Cleves) could have a slim chance.

The song in the middle of Ex-Wives is Greensleeves, which took me a while to figure out too since I think we just don't hear it all that much anymore (also I never knew about the rumor that Henry actually had it written for Anne Boleyn).

For the queens' inspirations, I believe it's
Aragon: Beyonce
Boleyn: Lily Allen/Avril Lavigne
Seymour: Adele/Sia
Cleves: Rihanna/Nicki Minaj
Howard: Ariana Grande/Britney Spears
Parr: Alicia Keys

The "queenspiration" for each queen is listed in the Playbill! They're as follows:

Aragon - Beyoncé and Shakira

Boleyn - Lily Allen and Avril Lavigne

Seymour - Adele and Sia

Cleves - Nicki Minaj and Rihanna

Howard - Ariana Grande and Britney Spears

Parr - Alicia Keys and Emeli Sandé
