"Apropos of absolutely nothing I swear !!!!!! shall we revisit Katrina Lenk’s *gender-swapped* “If I Were a Rich Man,” a performance that turned the gays straight and the straights gay and generally redefined sexuality? I think we shall." https://twitter.com/Casey_Mink/status/1162099586183438337?s=20
I went to see it yesterday evening! The audience enjoyed it (lots of laughs, audible ohs when Tewfiq tells Dina about his son, and awws when Amalia finally calls) and the cast was good. I enjoyed it too, really, although I am glad I got to see the Broadway cast.
Chilina Kennedy played Dina louder & more brash, I think, compared to Katrina Lenk's Dina being more soulful and sadder. I felt like Sasson Gabay dialed up his p

We had a great production here in DC a couple of years ago. Daisy Eagan (Mary in the OBC) played Martha in it. I'd love to see a revival on Broadway!

So why are you even bringing up Lin’s acting regarding a cameo role that anyone with a personality can do? Your assessment would be applicable if he were playing Kevin or Benny."
Why not? He is wooden and always, always ,self aware. It takes half a second on film to have a bad distraction. Yuck. And by the way.... the Pira

how do you know?"
That makes more sense than that they'd cut her role entirely, I think. Sometimes roles are just hard to cast, even/especially if the
Not totally off-the-wall, but it was funny to recognize Leslie Odom Jr in an episode of Gilmore Girls when I was rewatching before the revival came out in 2016. He's in one episode of season 6, playing a pompous Princeton student who's on a panel with Rory. A Princetonian long before his success as Aaron Burr!

i'm with you there! i wasn't sure of how i felt about Chilina as Dina and her rendition did not impress me. i'm even more grateful

Also, name one Asian man who has ever won an actingTony in a musical (guess what, you can’t because there are no Asian male musical Tony winners)."

Would it have still been as intimate and play-like? Or was Cromer the secret ingredient that made the show work? (I don't know how much changed between Prince's departure and the final product, but Hal was involved for years.)"

I know I bring up The Band's Visit and its cast everywhere... but I do genuinely wonder what would've happened if Indecent had been more successful & run longer (as it should have), and TBV still transferred at the same time. Would Katrina Lenk have left Indecent, or would TBV have recast? I believe the show's strong enough to be beautiful whoever's in it, but she really was something special as Dina.

I think Haus of Holbein is good there because it reflects the time gap between Seymour and Cleves– Henry mostly went from one wife to another immediately (as the Six songs do), but waited two years after Jane Seymour died. And later a year between Catherine Howard and Katherine Parr, a

He could be writing it for a Broadway belter. It could need more of a rock voice, or a jazz voice, or maybe it's a "Rex Harrison-type" role. Same goes for Andie and all the other roles. Such intense speculation usually leads to disappointment.

With 'names,' the show could do well, but while the buzz for this show might be huge in the West End, I don't see this doing well in NYC (or even Chicago for that matter)."
I've actually seen it (in Edinburgh last summer) and
