I know its impossible to say for sure. But Im just wondering if theres Been any talk down there of what sales will be like in the spring for the following shows: Diana, SIX, Company and Girl From the North Country.

Im hoping to rush or sro as many as I can in the spring. But those that will be sold out Id like to buy in advance.

Do we anticipate These to be sold out sensations as they have been elsewhere. Any words that have been circling around I would be interested in hearing. Thanks

Wouldn't the demand for shows have nothing to do with rush/SRO? If anything, SRO requires a sold out house... so if you want to do SRO, you need a packed house.

Sorry I just meant that if they were sold out hits, where people are camped out like at Hadestown compared to Oklahoma or something, it would change my plans for some shows and how I’d arrange it.

I don't think any of these will be completely megahits to begin with. Six probably has the largest potential to do that since it has a large online following, but that doesn't always translate to sales. Diana might get traffic mostly from people interested in the royal family, Company seems too niche to be a runaway hit, and Girl From the North Country got pretty divisive reviews last time it was in NYC iirc. Even Hadestown in the beginning was on TDF for previews before word of mouth picked up, so especially if you hit these shows early in their runs I think you should probably be fine. (The only recent show I can think of that sold out immediately is Moulin Rouge and I don't think any of these shows have quite that buzz surrounding them)

I don't know if SIX is holding back any blocks of tickets (not sure why they would), but their sales on ticketmaster appear to be pretty strong.

Given the short run time (80 minutes), I'm not sure if that will impact sales long term given the prices they are charging. Its done well at its other stops, so who knows. That would be the one to consider advance purchases as I can see them not offering a rush or digital lottery initially. I believe it officially opens mid March, so if you are coming after that positive reviews could really push demand.

But Company has Katrina Lenk & Patti LuPonne. I'd wager to bet star casting will be a draw. I am pretty excited for the show (especially as unmarried woman in my 30's, I'm very intrigued gender swap!) If anything I'm hoping for a lot of buzz to increase chances of SRO and maybe even a saturated secondary market like we saw with Hadestown (I was able to snatch $77 Mezz tix for Sunday Matinee via StubHub). Looking at tickets extreme sides are block off so I can only hypothesize (and hope) its a sign of seats set aside for rush & lotto?

I think Katrina Lenk and Patti Lupone are really only star casting for the theater community, and not quite the tourist crowd. Nothing against them because I love them both and I'm excited to see this production, but as far as it relates to the original question, I don't think they'll bring the kind of crowds where you'd have to stand in line for 4+ hours to ensure yourself a rush/SRO ticket.

Definitely agree. Perhaps a modest initial bump from the theatre community, but not anything that is going to drive outsiders to the show.

SIX could be next year's Hadestown, but I do not anticipate the others selling out. NORTH COUNTRY could be a "snob hit" like Band's Visit. COMPANY should have plenty of inventory, and I don't have high expectations for the run of DIANA.

Several of these are on Audience Rewards right now FWIW.

I'm coming around on Six. Best case scenario, it joins the cool kids club with Hadestown and Moulin Rouge. Otherwise it might be written off like other shows targeted to a younger demographic.

I think Company will sell well enough but I don't think it'll be impossible to get a ticket.

Best case scenario, Girl From the North Country taps into that Once audience. The successful jukebox musicals generally seem to be the more fun and upbeat ones. But anything's possible.

If Diana is a "sold out sensation," I'll eat my hat.

^^^^This. I expect a rush of sales initially from LuPone and Lenk fans, but that won't last. Neither woman is a name that sells tickets. Patti with her brilliant turn in Gypsy couldn't sell tickets outside the initial rush. Also, Company is a creaky property that many people just don't like, even with the new take. I think its a hard sell outside of theatre fans.

I always try to picture the kids at TKTS trying to tell a tourist about a show and wonder how they will sell Company. It just doesn't seem like it will be a hot ticket.

Patti couldn't save War Paint which was written with her in mind; I don't think she's going to make Company a sell-out even if she puts in another phenomenal performance as in London. Katrina Lenk is one of Broadway's rising stars and leading lights, but I'm pretty sure she's completely unknown outside the theatre world/people who watched the Tony Awards this past June. Had they pulled in Anne Hathaway for the production (I have no idea how real the rumor was, but I saw it here and elsewhere), then it might be a different story.

After seeing Diana in La Jolla, I don’t think the reviews or word of mouth will be very good. Some standout performances and great costumes couldn’t make up for a weak book and forgettable scores.
