I think we'll see the Buena Vista billing for FOX stage properties. Fox was the studio behind the Mrs. D movie and Fox Stage Productions was previously partnered with McCollum on this, but Fox Stage chair Bob Cohen got the boot after the Disney merger. It makes sense that the company's theatrical efforts are now under Schumacher's umbrella (albeit with a different name).

I' have a feeling that Disney will be using the Buena Vista name a lot for FOX productions, as there are plenty that could make a good musical (Disney are already turning the FOX-Produced The Princess Bride into a musical, but that seems to be going into the Disney section because of its fairytale story and themes) The Hyperion Theatricals project seems like a failed attempt to create a theatrical equivalent to Touchstone Pictures (Disney's "Adult" films division until the early 2010s) and it would be interesting to learn more about it...

What is “creepy” about him playing a character on a TV show who happens to be of the opposite sex of him, so he dresses in drag?"
i didnt say that that part was creepy (which btw aren’t you also describing tootsie with that sentence?). I said the concept of him not being allowed to see his children so he stalks them and pretends to be a woman to get closer to them. I’m really shocked that people are saying this is out of love which part of it is, but it’s also creepy and yes it is my opinion and no it is not ridiculous. Stop that.

Sure -- everyone is entitled to ridiculous opinions."
do you mean mine? It’s not ridiculous but thanks for playing.

Well when you mention that part in your response about how “Creepy” the show is it’s going to be taken as that is creepy, so maybe don’t include that next time. I guess it’s creepy now for a father to do whatever he can to see his kids he loves. Just so creepy! Happy 2019 everyone!!!!
Yes, it is creepy to stalk, deceive, and gaslight your family. I’m not sure why this is a point of contention. Maintaining the facade of whimsy and sympathy is going to be a huge task in this adaptation without the atom bomb of manic charm that was Williams.
I’m not so much worried about Rob McClure struggling to compare to Robin Williams. There’s already precedent of that not being an issue recently - James Monroe Iglehart has a Tony award.
He and Casey Nicholaw crafted a genie that can stand alone as a new stage presence from what was in the movie while respecting the original. And I’m sure the doubtfire writers, director, and Rob McClure can make something special for the stage too.
I see your point Playbill_Trash, but I think what make's JMI's genie such a stand alone presence is not that the character was voiced by Robin Williams but that it was an animated non-human character coming to life. JMI and Casey Nicholaw had to work to craft the genie in a new way because of how we all have come to know the character. With Mrs. Doubtfire, it's comparing one human portrayal to another, and with the power of Robin Williams behind the original I do think it'll be harder to separate the two portrayals. Not saying it can't/won't be done, but I do think it's a much harder task than the genie.
LAST year I flew to Chicago to see the pre-Broadway run of a musical based on a beloved film about a man who dresses in drag, deceives those around him, and becomes a better man because of it.
THIS year I fly to Seattle to see the pre-Broadway run of a musical based on a beloved film about a man who dresses in drag, deceives those around him, and becomes a better man because of it.
We see Doubtfire Dec 14. I adore Rob McClure, and have to say I'm looking forward to this more than Tootsie. Tootsie didn't work for me on stage, but I expect Doubtfire will given the theme of wanting/needing to be part of your kids' lives. It's a more accessible theme to the general public than a struggling actor looking for work.
As for McClure being in Williams' shadow, sure there will be comparison, but in a similar way, JMI and others have made Aladdin's Genie their own. I think the theater going crowd is open to seeing other interpretations of an iconic role.
As an aside, as I think about how closely the musical will follow the film, there is an interesting YouTube video with some outtakes that had Field and Williams acting very bitter and angry toward each other. If I recall, those scenes were dropped because test audiences reacted so negatively in the context of the comedy and love elsewhere in the film. I'm sure those scenes won't be in the musical.
