So in February, I'll be in New York and I am COMPLETELY torn between seeing either The Prom or Phantom since I'll only be in the city for one night before I leave the next day...I've never seen Phantom live, I've only seen the movie but I LOVE IT, and I've always wanted to see it time after time but I never have....for Prom, I started listening to it and I've fallen in love even if it's fluff because those are my kind of shows!! I'm torn please help!!

I would see the prom, since phantom will be around forever. The next time you visit NY, the prom will probably not be around

The Prom. It's such a special experience.

Both are great shows for their own reasons, but logistically speaking, The Prom probably won't be around too too long; I'd recommend it over Phantom based on that alone!

If you haven't seen Phantom live, it might be worth looking into the national tour as well, just to see when it's coming around your area. Just to get the best of both worlds, I suppose?...

But I vote for The Prom!

I don’t love the tour compared to broadway, but realistically speaking, this is good advice.

I echo what everyone else said (as hard as it is for me, I’m one CONSTANTLY taking first timers to see PotO) that The Prom will not outlast Phantom so you could see it some other time.

I also suggest that you pass on the current U.S. Phantom tour, as it pales in comparison to the original Broadway and London productions. If you really want to see The Prom, the advice to do so while it's still running is valid, as it likely won't have a long life, while Phantom undoubtedly will go on for many more years. That said, I do strongly encourage you to see Phantom on Broadway with the current leads (Ben Crawford and Kaley Ann Voorhees), as they are unparalleled in the show's more recent history.
