Planning my trip in December and trying to decide what shows are worth seeing. Just wondering if I should be focused on any other new shows. Shows I am considering:

To Kill a Mockingbird. Jeff Daniels in the cast. Worth the ticket price already.

King Kong looks like it could be great or a flop.

Pretty Woman has terrible reviews from the Chicago show.

Others that look promising:

American Son

Gettin the Band Back Together

Torch Song

Ferryman

Any other suggestions?

The Ferryman, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Lifespan of a Fact, The Waverly Place, and Torch Song are the ones that I'm looking forward to. Unfortunately, none of the musicals are very exciting to me. St. Ann's Warehouse is doing that scaled down/minimalist Oklahoma! that sounds pretty interesting and there's Girl From the North Country at The Public, but none of the Broadway musicals sound like they're going to be any good.

I would like some advices too, I will be at NY during most of the days of October.

Any particular shows off-Broadway that I should see?

Thanks for the heads up on the Lifespan of a Fact.

I'm also looking forward to Girl From The North Country, Oklahoma!, The Waverly Place, The Ferryman and To Kill a Mockingbird

My additions to the list are as follows:

MTC Shows. On Broadway, they have The Nap which is a new play from the author of One Man Two Governors.  Off Broadway, they are presenting India Pale Ale, a new play from the exciting young writer of Men on Boats.

Mother of The Maid @ The Public. MOTHER OF THE MAID tells the story of Joan of Arc’s mother (Glenn Close), a sensible, hard-working, God-fearing peasant woman whose faith is upended as she deals with the baffling journey of her odd and extraordinary daughter. This riveting play is an epic tale told through an unexpected and remarkable new perspective

The return engagement  of School Girls; or, the African American Man Girls Play. Paulina, the reigning queen bee at Ghana's most exclusive boarding school, has her sights set on the Miss Universe pageant. But the arrival of Ericka, a new student with undeniable talent and beauty, captures the attention of the pageant recruiter--and Paulina’s hive-minded friends.  Directed by Tony Award® winner Rebecca Taichman, Jocelyn Bioh's buoyant and biting comedy explores the universal similarities (and glaring differences) facing teenage girls across the globe. How far would you go to be queen bee?

The True (The New Group). Edie Falco stars as Dorothea “Polly” Noonan, the blunt, profane, decades-long defender of Albany’s Democratic Party machine in Sharr White’s fiery return to The New Group.  When it comes to Polly, politics is only personal, especially now that her hero, “mayor for life” Erastus Corning II (Michael McKean), is battling for party control while at the same time fighting the fiercest primary challenge of his life. The True is an intimate portrait of the bounds of love, loyalty, and female power in the male-dominated world of 1977 patronage politics.

Lewiston & Clarkston (Rattlestick). LEWISTON & CLARKSTON will be presented on a double bill this fall on the Rattlestick Mainstage. It will be the first time ever that the two plays - written to be in conversation with one another - will play the same space. LEWISTON & CLARKSTON reunites playwright Samuel D. Hunter and director Davis McCallum, the award-winning team behind The Whale and at Rattlestick, The Few.

King Kong has been around for a few years, now. (Australian production) You can google to get a pretty good idea whether/not you'll like the show.

For my tastes, the score isn't to my liking. It seems (again, for my tastes) to be more about he spectacle of the Kong puppetry.

I've also wondered this! Maybe they're going to try and get some buzz from the run at the Public, and then transfer in the Spring perhaps? That cast recording is certainly a delight!

It's The Waverly Gallery, not The Waverly Place. Most anticipated 2018 Fall Shows

The Cher Show is coming to Broadway November first (I believe) so if you're into Cher, that might be one to look for. The reviews from Chicago have been sub par but if they clean it up a bit it seems like it has potential.

Do we know when The Girl from the North Country will go on sale to the public?

Not officially. But as a member of The Public who can see availability throughout the run, I can tell you that Sunday (particularly evenings) will be your best shot at availability

Not to be further didactic, but it's just Girl from the North Country. No 'The.'

Just got a mailer for Second Stage's new season and completely forgot about the new Steven Levenson play that starts Off-Broadway this fall!

Days of Rage:  It's October 1969 and five 20-something idealists find themselves in the middle of a country divided. Living together in a house in Upstate New York and confident in the knowledge that they are the only generation to ever take up the resistance, they retaliate against society by denouncing monogamy and other capitalist notions.  But when they admit a mysterious newcomer to their collective, the delicate balance they've achieved begins to topple. It'll be six and a half years until the Vietnam War ends but their fight is just beginning. By the Tony Award-winning writer of Dear Evan Hansen, Days of Rage is a timely new play about youth, idealism and the fights that need fighting.

Thank you so much, this is good to know, although I’m keeping my fingers crossed for either a Sat or Sun matinee in September hopefully.

I see that Girl From the North Country will have a pre-sale for American Express credit card holders starting next week. I do not have Amex. Can a friend purchase 2 tickets for me? Or is this a no-no?

Since someone bumped the thread, I’ll add the new Ars Nova musical to the list

RAGS PARKLAND SINGS THE SONGS OF THE FUTURE: 250 years from now, constructed humans are built in black market labs, Mars is a forced labor camp and underground outlaws are brewing rebellion. You might not remember how Beaux Weathers and her band of “illegal intelligences” fought for the right to exist, but Rags Parkland does. Back on Earth for the first time in 10 years, Rags plays the music that carried us to where we are today. But on this planet, the more things change, the more we stay the same

I’m also hearing strong buzz for Collective Rage@ MCC and Scraps @The Flea
