So I'm in a dilemma here. Basically I'm trying to get tickets to a dear Evan Hansen show and have basically given up on telecharge bc I can't find tickets for the dates I'm planning on that are below like $400. I'm willing to pay for tickets on stub hub but I'm worried they might not be valid since there gonna be tickets to a sold out show, and I don't want to spend 200+ on invalid tickets. So is stub hub reliable in this sense?
They will give you a refund if the tickets aren't valid. I think they might also replace them, but since the show is so popular, I'm not sure what they'd be able to get you. Regardless, you won't lose your money, but there's no guarantee you won't end up with invalid tickets.
(a) 99% + of Stub Hub tickets are valid -- sellers simply have no incentive to sell invalid tickets through them (since they would be stuck with the cost of the refund plus fees to stubhub); (b) there are almost always decent tickets available for DEH on stubhub up to the time the show starts. Stub hub has an office just a few blocks from the theater. If you get to the theater 30 minutes before the show, that would give you time to go to back to them to get other seats (often better, and at no extra charge) in the unlikely event that your tickets are invalid.
Agree with what everyone has said here. I've both sold and bought on StubHub and never had a problem. Additionally, if you're in the area, the prices start dropping an hour before or so. If you can wait until half hour or closer, you can sometimes grab great deals.

With the possibility (probability??) of Ben Platt not resigning and with his contract ending sometime in November, I think secondary market ticket prices are only going to rise. There were crazy prices paid for Hamilton tickets right before the first defections.
I got a ticket via stubhub yesterday for under $200, rear, side Mezz, but a nice view of the stage. Prices started to fall about 3 hours before the show, raised about 2 hours before and dropped again 1.5 hours before. You picked up at the courtyard by Marriott on 40th.
Never had a problem buying or selling on StubHub. People selling tickets on there are not all scalpers. I know I've sold tickets on there when I realized I couldn't make an event or found better seats on a different day that I'd prefer.
I currently have a set of DEH tickets up there (past Platt's departure). because I ended up finding a pair for sale through telecharge prior to Platt's leaving and I wanted to guarantee seats to see him.
I would also recommend looking at TickPick which I think is a lesser known version of StubHub. I bought Hamilton tickets from them last year (at absolutely insane prices, only to have Lin, et al leave 2 weeks before...oh well) and was unbelievably nervous about it. However, they have the same guarantee as StubHub and customer service was awesome and reassured me. Also, they charge lower fees to sellers, so they often have the same seats for less. I had no issues with my Hamilton tickets and have used them again for U2 tickets that would have cost more on TM Resale and StubHub. I did buy hard tickets for Hamilton rather than PDF which also gave me some peace of mind, but those are harder to come by bc many people print at home.
Yes, SH is legit. I got my DEH tickets from them last month. For your piece of mind, opt for picking up the tickets at their office on 40th St, Courtyard by Marriott, which I did. The people over there are friendly and helpful.
