They probably wouldn't do it but Into the Woods would work really really well done live.

You could make it excitingly shot with a huge forest on a soundstage. (Which I recognize is what the film is) but you could direct it so it would be more surreal than the film and less proscenium-ey as the show on stage.

I just think the pace of the show really lends itself to live.

With proper casting ragtime in concert form like jcs would be great!  Audra could reprise Sarah, Amanda Seyfried as mother, Danny Bernstein as Tateh, Brian D'arcy james as Father, Darren Criss as Younger Brother, Kristen Chenoweth or Jaane Krakowski as Emma Goldman, and for "star" casting Selena Gomez as Evelyn Nesbit?

I would personally love to have Lilla Crawford as Evelyn but she's to young lol, Titus Burgess as Coalhouse? He has star appeal due to unbreakable kimmy schmidt.

Some of this casting makes me wanna throw up. Amanda Seyfried as Mother? You've got to be kidding me. She CANNOT sing. Kristin or Jane would be more appropriate for Mother. And Titus  Burgess as Coalhouse? LOL I love him to death, but there's no way he could pull off Coalhouse.
