This is a snippet from the 1939 London production, filmed by the BBC. In the late 1960s when I was stationed on a US Navy ship in Scotland, I went to an event where we formed a sort of conga line and danced to "The Lambeth Walk". It has been a favorite piece of music for me ever since.
I wish I could actually view all the videos BWW posts here. For example, the "First Look: Ragtime" above. I get a swoosh of music and then the BWW logo. That's all. I can see some videos, but frequently not.
In 1969, I saw Betty and Anthony "Tony" Roberts in the London production of "Promises, Promises". I don't know if Mr. Roberts is still professionally active. But half a century later, it would be fun to see them reunite for "Dolly".
In two weeks, I will see Audra perform in concert here with the San Diego Symphony; and later next year, with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Very excited!
The quality of this video is not terrific. But watching it, I'm reminded what a talent she truly is.
At 71, I am a small guy (5' 7" and 125 lbs). My husband is also 71 and has similar stats. We adhere to a strict vegan diet. We enjoy a vigorous exercise regimen. We don't smoke tobacco, drink alcohol or use other drugs. Even so, we each have had health issues (3 heart attacks for me, 1 for him). For that reason, we really try to stay as fit and healthy as possible. We realize, however, that others may not do the same (for whatever reason)
"The Unsinkable Molly Brown," the first stage musical I saw (1966 with Jane Powell). My mother and I went together, just a few days before I left for Navy Boot Camp. I have very pleasant memories of that evening. It would be nice to see it again.
There is already a thread about "Marilyn," so I will repeat myself.
I will be in Las Vegas in November to run the Rock N Roll "Strip at Night" Marathon. When I learned about this production, I immediately bought a ticket for the night before the race. Very excited to see this.
I was sorry to read that. In the late 1960's, I saw him with Judi Dench in "Cabaret" in London. As a matter of coincidence, recently I bought the cast album from that production and listened to it a couple of days ago on my daily run. A very good actor.
In May, I see Audra in concert here with the San Diego Symphony. Then in April 2019, with the Los Angeles Philharmonic in a program that "explores the decadent musical decade of the Weimar Republic, with music by Kurt Weill and his Berlin contemporaries". I could not be more excited!
I have never changed seats. Not something I think is my right to do.
A slightly-related story. In the 1960s, when I was a teenager, a friend and I went to a theater-in-the-round in Salt Lake City to see Ray Bolger's show. It was winter, the weather was nasty, and the theater was probably just more than half full. After Mr. Bolger came out and performed his first number, he invited everyone in the back rows to move closer to the empty seats in front. It
I have not seen it on stage, but I have a very vivid memory of seeing the film version when it was released in 1955. I was nine, and my parents dropped my best friend (David) and I off at the theater to see it. I had such a boy crush on David. We were so excited. I think this was probably our first introduction to "Broadway" music. Later, I remember climbing a fruit tree in our backyard with David, singing the title song at the top of our lungs.&nb
