Youth Theatre Show Help  Apr 22 2018, 04:37:25 PM

I think we are going to do OOTI JR, because it would be cool to help educate students on how to perform with a round stage. We were just talking about it and we will probably base the set off of the revival.

Youth Theatre Show Help  Apr 22 2018, 02:19:18 PM

We are putting on a production for grades 1-5. We have a couple of choices so far. Our expected turn out is 15-25. A shorter show would be ideal. Here are the choices we have so far, please recommend more!

MTI

Music Man Kids, Lion King Kids, Dear Edwina Jr, Cinderella Kids

Pioneer Drama Service

Zombeo and Juliet, The Ever After, Secret Garden

Broadway Licensing

Emma: A Pop Musical Jv, Beat Bugs Jv

What are some other good shows that are shorter

The Next Great Broadway Revival  Apr 22 2018, 12:22:21 PM

A revival of Thouroughly Modern Millie would be cool

Also I really want a reimagined tour of Wicked! New sets and costumes would be cool to see.

Into the Woods at the circle in the square would be cool.

A production of Ragtime would be extremely relevant today.

This is a risk but maybe the little mermaid with a updated book/ score and totally different design feautring Sara Bareilles as Ariel

Linnamon Role Appreciation Thread - :p  Apr 21 2018, 07:35:57 PM

Here are some recommendations to get you away from Hamilton.

- Waitress, Sara Bareilles wrote and starred in it. Jenna is abused by her husband, to her the only way out is baking.

- Ragtime, About 3 groups in the early 1900s, The citizens of Harlem, Immigrants, and the rich white people. Listen to Wheels of a Dream, Make them hear you, Crime of the century, and Ragtime.

- Once on this Island- An adaptation of "The Little Mermaid". I would recommend the revival r

Sierra Boggess to play Maria in West Side Story in London  Apr 21 2018, 07:17:48 PM

I feel like although Sierra has massive talent, Maria should be played by a Puerto Rican. Westside story is literally all about Race. There are many other actresses that could have played the role. She herself said that her playing Maria was "wrong" so why do it again? In order to tell the story of West Side Story properly, Maria needs to be of the proper descent. It doesn't matter if it's a concert. That's even more of a reason to cast proper race because many people wi

Licensing Rights Question  Apr 20 2018, 05:36:04 PM

Here are some smaller cast shows

Emma: A Pop Musical! (Has songs like brave, girls just wanna have fun, roar, etc.) (Broadway Licensing)

Polkadots the cool kids musical!- Cast of 4-5, based off little rock nine. (Broadway Licensing)

Addams Family Young@part- Basically a jr version (cheaper) (TRW)

Freaky Friday- Probably more expensive and you need extreme talent. (MTI)

Honk! Jr.- Smaller cast, simpler show. (MTI)

Singin' in the Rain jr.- Smaller c

Licensing Rights Question  Apr 17 2018, 08:24:10 PM

Look at the jr musicals on mti for a cheaper cost. You can also do the TYA shows for cheaper. Look at pioneer drama service for cheap shows and broadway licensing's jv collection (I really recommend Emma a pop musical, it is a very fun show and has songs that all the kids would know!) Even if you aren't paying for admission you have to pay because you could get sued. When they come to a decision you should tell us lol

Freaky Friday to Bway?  Apr 17 2018, 04:21:01 PM

I love the show so much I know it probably won't but is there any word?

BE MORE CHILL to Premiere Off-Broadway This Summer  Apr 17 2018, 04:20:08 PM

I feel like this show would do way better on a non equity tour

BE MORE CHILL to Premiere Off-Broadway This Summer  Apr 17 2018, 04:18:24 PM

I don't think it will, Bmc has a giant fan base but if you think about it only a small percent of those fans (12-18 year olds) will get to see it, we already have enough musicals about teen angst (deh, freaky friday, ntn kinda, school of rock, etc.) Anyways after the small percent of the fan base sees it I don't think many others will. It's probably because I'm biased but I really hate bmc. It just seems stupid.

CARRIE on RIVERDALE (4/18)  Apr 17 2018, 03:53:24 PM

I watched the videos of their covers and I wasn't expecting anything more. Their voices seem ok but not great, but it's a teen drama what else should I expect lol. The girl who plays veronicaa (camillai think?) had a great voice though not star quality but surprising

What show should my highschool do?  Apr 16 2018, 08:35:09 PM

We have narrowed it down, please more suggestions though lol

Ragtime

Les Miserables- We are kinda straying away from it because it is so easy to screw up

Titanic

Some other shows we are looking into (not strong male cast):

Freaky Friday

Come from Away

Ms. Saigon

If the rights are available by next year we are most likely going to try to perform Something Rotten. I really want to do Ragtime but everyone else seemed really bored by it (We
