I just read this article and thought some might find it interesting.  Seems Josh Groban was resting his voice.

I had no notice, no e-mails, no calls from Telecharge – only to find them handing out papers about it once I got to the theatre. I have since gotten a refund for that ticket and am now going to a Dec. performance.

However, the weird thing is that I got an e-mail YESTERDAY around 5:30 p.m. telling me that Groban would be out and they were letting me know since I had a ticket for the Nov. 17th performance (which I did not, after triple-checking).

I don’t get what happened, but someone needs to crack the whip over at Telecharge.

I got that email around the same time. Almost 24 hrs after the show. We weren't told that we could stay through to the intermission and still get a refund (the email said we could).  My friend was super disappointed. She stood in line for the refund. I stayed - and was happy I did. It's a great show. But I will be contacting Telecharge when I get home. There's no point in writing an email that refers to your "upcoming" show when it is actually sent out the next day.

Intermission report!

I was there both last night and tonight and both times there was:

- a playbill insert

- a lobby board post saying Scott Stangland was on as Pierre

- staffers informing people as they walked in that Josh was not on, and they could get refunds or exchanges if they'd like.

In fact, most people stayed- the show (and Stangland) was wonderful last night (Stangland got a standing o!), and seems to be getting a great reception tonight.

So I'm not exactly sure what the problem is....

No they didn't.

Bummer. Thanks for the answer.

just got the email about him being out this afternoon. Supposed to leave for the train in about 25 minutes.

I guess I'll still go...want to see the show more than just Josh Groban. Aggravated though.

Josh is by no means the "heart" of this show.

fans seeking tickets should consider his nights-off opportunities to upgrade their seating and experience!

I caught this again yesterday afternoon (my friend won the lottery). The seats were on far aisle of row B (the front row). I could see 75% of what happened. I definitely preferred my rear mezzanine seat that I had last time. Scott Stangland was absolutely phenomenal as Pierre. I just REALLY love this show. It's truly unlike anything else on Broadway.

Outside of Tuesday, was Stangland on all week? What shows did Groban do this week? I believe he's expected back today.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I believe he did half the week, Wednesday evening through Saturday matinee, with Groban doing the first two shows and the last two shows of the week. It will be interesting to see how big of a hit the weekly gross took, sounds like it will be a relatively big one.

If you want to be yelled at for 3 hours and forced to endure the "fun police" chorus stomping around then this is your show but if not heed my warning--STAY AWAY! Maybe the show will have a healthy run because of Groban but we thought the show was just terrible. There's no recouping on this stinker. Now I didn't see it with Groban and maybe that impacted the matinee we saw but I thought the book and music were just dreadful (I'm not sure what Charles Isherwood saw in this production...it's not even a tenth of what Hamilton is.) Every song was basically just telling us what they were already doing..."I'm putting on my coat...I missed my sleeves"...yikes! The leading cast with the exception of Lucas Steele was weak vocally--Denee has no vocal presence or star power or stage presence at all and Brittian was no nasally it was jarring and it felt like everyone was just trying too hard. A bunch of misfits all performing in their own separate productions. Zero chemistry between any of them. My friend and I both thought it all felt so forced. Lucas Steele was the exception and we thought he was very good but the rest were just not up to his level in any way...especially vocally. Best part of the show--THE SET!  It's truly spectacular a big WOW when you walk into the theatre and I'd expect this to be nominated for a Tony for that but the show itself...no way! And we didn't think the set was lit all that well. Cheesy is the word that comes to mind. My friend liked the costumes...they did nothing for me. With all of that said there were plenty of folks around us who seemed to love it and on the flip side there were plenty of people who walked out. I read the boards and sorry Scott Strangland has zero appeal... this guy is not a star...and vocally he was just average. Plus he was a sweaty mess the entire Saturday matinee'. I was like give the poor guy a towel. I may try it again when Groban is back and maybe he helps elevate the other actors but I just don't know how you can elevate the weak book or music. It was torture for us. There's one good song but Strangland didn't do anything to to elevate it. I had such high hopes for this and when we walked in I was wowed but it went downhill quickly. Sadly I have 3 sets of tickets to take out of town guests over the holidays but I'm not going to put anyone through this. Once Groban's out this thing is closing...smart move to bring him in but oh brother this is rough.

That I needed two advil and an hour of quiet after the performance. Which is exactly what happened.

Look if you're visiting NYC and want top notch immersive theatre then go to Sleep no More...have dinner at the Russian Tea Room before, listen to Groban in the cab and you've saved yourself for the agony of the Great Comet.

Or maybe they will have a fabulous time AT the theater.

Sorry you didn't enjoy it, but different strokes....

Well, re: this week's grosses, also keep in mind that they had only 7 paid performances this week, due to Monday's opening night.

Yeah, it's been confirmed.

Can you provide a link? I can't find any information anywhere for a new recording. My concern is that since the book that came out today for this musical contains a CD with Josh Groban singing 2 songs, they won't make a new cast recording. I'm praying they make a new one.

I don't have a link, but it was discussed along with the nonsense about the refusal to give Ars Nova proper credit.

Yeah, it was discussed during the Ars Nova stuff was happening, they talked about scheduling the recording for the same day as the Ars Nova gala (Dec 5th I believe), also someone asked Dave Malloy on Twitter if there was going to be a new recording and his reply was something like "Yes, recording in December"...I will see if I can find it...
