Has anyone received the mailer notice for "Paramour"? Holy Moley! They sure spent a pretty penny on those. Glossy gold and tri fold and very nice.

What's going on with this? Is this new music...an Equity production...I'm sure new choreography. I know Diane Paulus did a great job with "Pippin". Who is directing this? There are also three actors/singers shown in the mailer. Is the Lyric big enough for this show? I'm just debating whether I should get tickets or is this the Vegas act?

The sign went up today at the theater.  The director is Philippe Decoufle. I didn't get the flier yet, but I am excited to now.  There are composers and lyricists on the sign too so I guess original music is a yes.  Cirque shows are pricier than the standard Broadway ticket.  I paid just under $150  for top price seats with 30% off when I was in Vegas last year. I really hope they offer a lottery or student rush! Yes, the Lyric is huge. Buy a ticket! Vegas Cirque shows are spectacular and this is the first time one is on Broadway.

I got the mailer, it's huge and it's gold, makes me want to see the show. Mission accomplished Cirque Du Soleil.

Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

So is the show on a full Broadway league contract?

This theater is perfect for a Cirque show. It sort of reminds me of the theater where "O" is playing in Vegas. It should do well especially with tourists.

My understanding is that it is on a modified Production Contract to help deal with some of the safety issues posed by acrobatics and such. If Cirque does remain in the Broadway producing business I would expect to see them eventually have a full Cirque Production Contract, similar to how Disney has their own version of the Production Contract.

Does anyone else find it odd that they're doing another show centered around the golden age of Hollywood? I heard good things about Iris, but does' this feel like Iris rebranded?

Once Iris closed, they said they wanted to bring it back in another form or to new cities. I would not say it is a carbon copy of Iris but it does share some key elements. (They have the hotel trampoline scene from Iris in the show.)

Oh wow. Good to know. That's really disappointing. Hoping I'm proved wrong though and that it's awesome! It's been a while since I've seen a really moving Cirque show and I would love to see one again!

Iris had a truly amazing Danny Elfman score- one of his best in a decade. I wish he would write a full musical score, but it doesn't seem to be on his to-do list.

I've been wondering about the connection between this and IRIS since I first saw the logo with the film spool. It was foolish to think they could make a permanent home in L.A. with tourists. I always wanted to see that show and heard it was beautiful, especially the Elfman score. Hope a lot of it makes it in, honestly.

The filmstrip scene from IRIS is in the show and it looks like the opening announcements will be the same as well.

Was Iris not incredible?  I saw Zarkana at Radio City a few years ago and thought it was mediocre.  Then I got to see MJ One, Beatles Love, Mystere, and O in Vegas and they were all unbelievable.  If this doesn't turn out great at least we are also getting Toruk and Kurios for a short while in September and Ovo is going to be making a few close stops in May and June.

IRIS, when it first opened was amazing.  By the time it closed, a little less amazing.  (sometime in the running it lost an intermission trimmed down to 90 minutes)

I only saw Zarkana 2.0  when it first opened in Las Vegas, prior to IRIS closing and some of the acts moving in.  It was good, not great.  Personally I think Cirque is best in the small tent, or in a custom built theatre like Vegas.  (Zarakana was not)

That said, if you've never seen the Anderson Twins aerialist act in Varaka, or IRIS, or Zarkana v3.0 in Las Vegas, GO SEE THEM in Paramour.  I'm sure the other acts are great too, but them soaring above the audience is worth the price of a ticket.

Cirque likes to recycle acts, but this show is going to have a bunch of actual (new) songs and production numbers mixed in, so they are making a big effort to make it something fresh and new, I'm sure people will get their monies worth, even if they've seen a couple of the acts before.

I saw "Iris" shortly after it opened in LA, and it was just okay.  Seeing how it underperformed in Los Angeles (they planned for a 10 year run and it closed after 16 months), I would hope that Paramour is significantly different.  For what it's worth, I thought Kurios (coming to NY in September) was quite good.

Toruk was a huge disappointment for me and everyone I saw it with in December. The projections and set are incredible (and the score does a good job of evoking Horner's work from Avatar), but the actual acts are really boring. It didn't have the feel of a Cirque show; there was too much focus on makeup, video effects, story, and puppets. If you're a big Avatar fan, you'll enjoy it, and if you're a techie, you'll love it. But for Cirque fans, it wasn't great. I'm looking forward to Kurios though.

I have to say that QUIDAM is my favorite. I actually worked for them during one leg of the DRALION tour. The show was ok but what made it special was going behind the scenes on site. Also enjoyed Varekai. Love the music from that show.

They do tend to recycle acts and that is why I stopped seeing their shows.  I did see KA in Vegas and enjoyed it. I think I am now read to see them again and am looking forward to this show.

Just give the world Love.

Any thoughts on the TODAY show clip yesterday? It was a fun behind the scenes, but I wish they did more to emphasize the fact it actually a musical - you know, like actually mention that it's a musical.
