this TOTALLY flew under my radar and im AMAZED more people aren't talking about it, Elaine May returning to the same theater were Nicholas and May made their names, incredible casting coup
from what I've heard this is the last extension and they will be promoting it as such i.e "this summer is your last chance to see the funniest show on broadway!"
this show is brilliant and more people should be talking about it, its not so much a gun violence play so much as a cry into the universe for change and an examination of what its like to be a young teenager in a universe where all the adult are just putting their heads in the sand
i would put this odds on as at the least a Pulitzer finalist next year
If the secondary market has anything to say this show will be gone by next summer, as it is you can get tickets on stubhub now starting at $60 for most performances, this should be on a harry potter level and its just not and the word of mouth of going to kill it
I wish i cared more about this, considering its one of only like half a dozen plays that has been written with roles for deaf performers this should be a big opportunity, instead its Joshua Jackson above the title....really? what was he like the 5th name on the list of people they went after? Zzzzzz literally no one I know is anticipating this and its going to come and go real fast if the reviews arent anything but sterling
something for folks to keep in mind, this show comparative to others, at least in the west end is drawing ALOT of first time theater goers, a trend I would expect to continue with the broadway run, yes the applause was a bit much the last two nights but keep in mind how many of those folks had their first theater exposure last night, that's a good thing.
as someone that previously worked there, I was absolutely stunned by what they did to the space, it is truly beautiful and i highly believe the folks behind the design and renovation should receive a special Tony award for their efforts its not simply a renovation this is turning a set into a theater
what an evening, this is one of the most incredible physical productions ive ever seen.
that being said, the script is messy and based on the trajectory of the end of Part 1, its only going to get messier, but hey im along for the ride if Part 2 has some more of the brilliant illusions that part one did.
Caught this last night and it was worth every penny of the $94 I paid to see it, Johnny Fry is giving a superb performance and I thought this was one of the funniest plays of seen all season. Hoping this still transfers at a later time so more people can see this phenomenal production
