Not shocking, but good for them! Especially on the 7 show a week schedule. I wonder what their weekly nut is (sans NPH's salary). It might not have to make a terrible amount per week while Rannells is in it to stay afloat.
"Oh look at the time, three more intelligent plays just closed and THE ADDAMS FAMILY made another million dollars" -Jackie Hoffman, Broadway.com Audience Awards
According to NYTimes the capital is $5 million. That makes the weekly nut (including NPH's salary) approx. 637k
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
I'm surprised it took them that long. And how does this show have the same "nut" as some huge, big, lavish Broadway musicals? Something doesn't add up.
Neil has a large paycheck and is probably making a percentage of the box office, so the running cost is higher than expected. When Rannells joins, the running cost will drop drastically.
I know that. I'm not an idiot. But if it costs 600,000 a week to run, and so does Cinderella, it doesn't take a genius to think that's a little strange?
Damn that NPH must be making a mint, I'm sure easily beating Ricky Martin's reported $100K a week deal. Maybe doubling it! And considering that's a smaller venue, only 1,007 seats? Incredible. But I guess if half the theatre is going for $400-$500 a ticket, I guess not that incredible.

Logic would suggest Neil is probably making $200,000 or more per week, since I assume he's getting a percentage of the gross as well, so there's your difference. Seems pretty simple, actually.

I know you're not an idiot, RM. I was just thinking out loud.
I don't know where the NYT gets its figures. Obviously, it isn't assuming NPH gets a percentage if the NYT thinks the weekly nut is always the same.
The NYT only quoted a $5 million start-up cost. The weekly nut I quoted was an average calculated by myself using the method shown in the screenshot.

I wonder how much the new guy will get? I think if it has a running cost of even 500,000 that'll be a little steep to keep up with. But I assume at that point they'll have some money in the bank.
Am i correct in that these figures for the running costs includes NPH's salary? if so, would it then be possible to look at the difference in cost when Rannells joins to see the difference in their pay? Not their exact pay, but just what the difference is between their two salaries
They do but that calculation won't be possible without additional data that is unlikely to be released publicly at this stage of the run (e.g., weekly nut with Andrew or the profit for one week with Andrew)

Thanks for the clarification, qolbinau. I'm beginning to understand the figures now.
I'd be curious to compare these grosses to something like The River. Another small scale production, but I'm sure their running cost must be pretty high?
