Yes. It really makes me think I'd enjoy his work if he hired another composer for his shows with his lyrics.

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

Did he write the cancelled TV show bit?

It should have had a cameo from Andy Mientus, they killed him off And the show was cancelled.
Andrew looked So tan.

I hope Missy B's bottle was real booze.

If anyone was drinking real booze onstage tonight it was Jane Lynch.

Sorry, April but no. Anything but, actually.

Fact is, it was embarrassingly bad.

It was better than NPH's schtick and his fixation on Mike Tyson.

"It was better than NPH's schtick and his fixation on Mike Tyson."

Remember, he has a whole team of writers telling him what to say. While the host has some input into that process, and the writers will try to write in his "voice," a lot of what he says came from their laptops, not his own head.

Sod the bitter queens. It was a terrific, entertaining show.

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

Best part of the entire show! Anyone find a video of it yet? I could watch that endlessly.

What didn't you care for After8? I found it very amusing and a moment that theater insiders and folks who never see theater could enjoy equally. I am curious what about it rubbed you the wromg way?

Agreed. The cancelled shows bit was great. Isn't the Hollywood flight of the stats what we all talk about? Gad to see the Tonys have fun with it.

What didn't you care for After8?

Because it was written after 1957.

I'd give that whole number and Lachuisa a big round of applause. I thought it was clever and poked enough fun at the Broadway actors who sadly don't succeed on TV. Maybe Gerard Alessandrimi can write something next year!

I didn't find it the slightest bit amusing. I found it excruciating, hokey and embarrassing, allowing NPH to be even more smug than usual.

I preferred seeing Patti LuPone push a lawn mower across the stage last year.

I say do away with all this staged "specialty" nonsense altogether. Just stick to the shows.

Oh. Well to each his own I guess. It sounds like you have some issues with Neil Patrick Harris in general. I must admit I was never a fan, NEVER watched one if his TV shows but I have found him to be a most charming Tony host- "the way in" for Joe & Betty Sixpack who might not know who Patti LuPone is.

Now now, Reggie, that is how we know he is a REAL theater fan. He hasn't seen anything decent since The Wasps (422 BC).
