I was sad to hear that Matthew was out last night, a few people demanded refunds at the box office, but the theatre was full nevertheless. Joey was perfection, but I must say that Broderick is a great asset to this show. He has a very peculiar sense of humor and his goofyness is unique. His work as Jimmy Winter deserved a Tony Award. The same goes for the amazing Kelli O'Hara, who is always thrilling. The entire cast is a delight, the magic of Broadway is still alive at "Nice Work"!

Wow! I'm surprised none of the news media has mentioned that Joey Sorge has replaced Matthew Broderick. I wonder when the producers are releasing an official announcement. Broderick had a great run in the show. Sorry to see him go so quickly.

Great that he got to go on! Cameron Adams just went on for Billie and I'm sure she was great. Did anyone see her? She has two more dates coming up for sure, besides if Kelly is unexpectedly out. I'd love to see different understudies go on for this show- especially her and Jeffrey Schecter as Cookie. And someone new as Eileen...didn't love JLT.
I have to agree, this show has a great cast. What a cast of leads and the ensemble is so talented. Robyn Hurder is a new favorite of mine after seeing the show and I think she and Chris Sullivan add so much. Then of course Judy Kaye and Michael McGrath. Sad to hear Estelle Parsons is leaving, is Donna English replacing her?
Muscle, you used the correct words in your post. You didn't say replace, you said "as Jimmy Winter" and of course, your post clearly stated that it was for one night. I love the show as well and have posted that many times and thought Broderick was very suited for the role and has done a great job. The ensemble is one of my all time favorites..the show itself continues to be a crowd favorite..
Anyone know if Broderick performed the matinee today? Cameron Adams is going on for Kelli on the 15th, I remember reading somewhere. She is great!!

^actually he originally did, which led to BrodyFosse's ambiguously sarcastic response, which made things potentially more misleading, proven by newintown's serious (?) response to BrodyFosse's ambiguously sarcastic response to muscle23's original misleading thread title which... oh, you had to be there...
Joey Sorge was fantastic, he was utterly charming and hysterically air-headed. He made the role look effortless, he was so smooth. Really glad I got to see him instead of Broderick.
On a related note, I always find it interesting to see someone go into a role where it was created around someone with lesser skills. For example, you could tell that Sorge was holding back a bit during the choreography, and I ached for him to just give more.

Although Joey is a first rate performer, I think Matt is better suited for the role of Jimmy Winter. Regardless of who you get to see in it, this is the best show I've seen on Broadway this past season(I haven't seen Newsies yet though)

I saw this sunday October 28 at 3pm and Joey Sorge was on. The show exceeded my expecations. Really enjoyed it all around more than Anything Goes. Remind me to stop reading The Time's reviews.
Love the cast (All of them) , and Sorge did a good job in role that was tailored for Broderick (who I haven't seen.)
Did anyone catch Clyde Alves as Jimmy last weekend? Seemed like the cast was extra excited for him to go on. Also, has anyone seen the new ensemble members (Shina, Paloma, Andrew Cao and Kaitlin Mesh as swings....)? Just wondering how they are doing, as well.
I would imagine some of the excitement for Clyde is that his wife is Robyn Hurder who plays Jeannie. I'm sure the opportunity for Clyde was unexpected since Joey Sorge is Matthew's understudy. Perhaps he was not in? Nice for the ensemble members to get lead time. I have not seen all the new members but last time I saw the show, Robert Hartwell had already left for Cinderella. He brought an extra special quality to that ensemble that will not be replaced.

I saw the show today and just have to give my praise for Kristen Beth Williams. I have seen her in 3 shows (Nice Work, Anything Goes, and Promises, Promises) and I think she brings an incredible spark to the ensemble!
I got to see Cameron Adams as Billie a few weeks ago, she did a good job too.
I could listen to Kelli sing Gerwshin all day too! She is wonderful.

I was underwhelmed by Matthew Broderick when I saw the show. But without his name, the show might not still be running, so I give him the same pass I would anyone in that position. As Gershwin "jukebox" musicals go, I preferred Crazy for You to Nice Work.
