Whatever happened to standing room, rush, and lottery tickets hovering around $20?? Raising the prices to $30, $40, and even $49 plus a service fee that can be up to $5 doesn't even make the whole thing worth it. Obviously I understand that producers do this because they can and people and crazy fans and tourists will pay...but, what happened to making there be an affordable way for New Yorkers or those with less funds able to see the shows without breaking the bank. Mostly venting and ho
Tootsie comes to mind. Not that I absolutely loved it, but the score is so forgettable but I had a good night out at the theatre and enjoyed the sum of the whole show more than its parts. I seriously could not name you a single song from Tootsie. I did not think the music was bad during the show-it aided the show and showed us character development and plot points, just nothing I'm going to listen to on the train or whatever.
Saw the Tuesday matinee today and was just in awe. It was my second time and I loved it even more than my first visit. Bernadette is just such a gift and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Victor has definitely grown as Horace and Bernadette kept cracking him up-particularly during the downstage center dinner with the beets and dumplings, which was so charming and the audience ate it up.
Gavin and Charlie are an amazing duo and so mesmerizing.&n
Mostly recently, Billy Bustamante blew me away in Saigon as the Engineer. What an incredible performance-he commanded the show in a way I had not seen from a leading man in some time. Also the Kim alt. Lianah was on and she was phenomenal.
Shoba as Natasha
Jessica Vosk as Golde
Jared Gertner when he was the Cunningham standby
J. Harrison Ghee when he was the Lola cover on tour...knew they would bump him to lead on Broadway at some point.
Just got back from the show tonight. It was super, super fun. As an experience alone I loved it, but when looking at it technically I would give it a 7/10.
There are some great moments and BRILLIANT direction and choreography, but the whole trajectory of the show is a little lost story and character-wise. With more solidified songs for Cady and Regina, this can be fixed. Regina needs a big song near the top of Act One to establish her power and the rest
Bumping this because I am in need of something truly hilarious, laugh out loud funny to use. Not just a chuckle-to-yourself kind of song, but something even irreverent or whatever. Open to songs from shows or stand alone new MT songs. Thank you!
