Eh. He could be good. It's not much of an acting role.

I feel like a lot of people on here don't like him. Am I the only fan? I've seen him in NEXT TO NORMAL and CATCH ME and thought he was great.

The right age, has a good look for the part, and can really sing. I'm sure he gave a hell of a screen test to land this role. Good for him!

I don't really think of Enjolras as a heartthrob...

Sure, it's the sensitive guy on the inside that makes Cosette fall in love with him. She has ample time to become familiar with his personality.

Cosette falls in love with Marius. Tveit is playing Enjolras.

Well this negates any joy I had about Sasha Baron Cohen being cast.

What a thoroughly awful casting decision.

Thanks for that insight, RainbowJude. You are SO right. I've clearly never seen Les Miserables, so I'm just making **** up as I go. You on the other hand clearly have knowledge of the show beyond my wildest dreams.

Fail.

I do think the part requires a bit of sex appeal == but not in a sexual way. He needs to be charismatic to get the people to fight.

I think it's a great fit. While I didn't love CMIYC, I did love him in N2N and Saved.

Also, "Red and Black" is supposed to have a big and booming sound. Enjolras is a real tenor or baritone. You can't belt that song the way Aaron is going to. Perhaps they meant to hire Aaron Lazar and got confused by the first name...

I'm pretty sure all of the actors had to audition, and my bet is one of the songs they had to sing was one of the big numbers for their character. So I'm sure they like what they saw/heard.

Just like Rob Marshall liked Kidman's "Unusual Way"?

I'm sure you're right, Fan2. That doesn't mean it's a good idea. Just because THEY may have liked what they heard doesn't mean the rest of the world will. Aaron's sound is too bright and poppy, and perhaps the casting people thought he was great, but I cannot hear him singing Red and Black without sounding like a Jonas Brother.

Oh well, sometimes you misread things and I'm half asleep as it is. Whatever. Aaron Tveit seems a like natural Marius anyway, which is why I was confused. But there's nothing fundamentally wrong with Enjolras being hot anyway, so...

Does the final paragraph of the BroadwayWorld article really state the name of the film as "Lea Michele"?
