Hopefully this is the first step of Bomer finally speaking openly about his sexuality.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."
-John Guare, Landscape of the Body
I'm absolutely fascinated by all these glass-closeted celebrities taking on high-profile gay roles (see also, Pace, Lee; Parsons, Jim). I don't really know quite what to make of it. Is it progres?
I reserve my antipathy for those who actively work against civil rights. Otherwise, it's simply a matter of letting someone make their own choices. In Matt's particular case, there are children involved, which I would assume has some effect on any decisions made.
Oh...I have no antipathy. I'm just sort of fascinated by it. There's this dichotomy of 'Please don't ask about my personal life' and 'I choose this role cause it's something I believe in.' I really do think it's some sort of progress, in a way. Not that long ago, gay actors would stay as faaaaar away from gay roles as possible. I'm just wondering when the final step will be taken...and perhaps not even by these particular actors.
Well, it still takes a willingness to sacrifice goals within the industry. Anyone who thinks differently isn't paying attention. For every Neil Patrick Harris, there are a hundred Chad Allens (a much better actor, to my mind.) I agree that simply taking the roles is more of a step than taken in the past. And there ARE those who are being more vocal - and then not having the same opportunities. Time, I guess, is going to be the major determinent.
At least they're not going the Spacey route. I'm not very subjective on that matter, though, as he skeeves me out completely.
I was in Spring, TX just two weeks ago for a ghost tour. Hmm...

We must have different Gods. My God said "do to others what you would have them do to you". Your God seems to have said "My Way or the Highway".
A ghost tour? Must have been on the east side near the old town. Did you go to the Wunsche Brothers Cafe? It used to be the Spring Cafe and all the waitress were over 65. It was a hoot! Now it's a popular destination for emerging C&W music talents.

HA! In junior high, I used to give tours in Old Town Spring at Christmas time. I noticed there is a Tomball ghost tour as well. My neighborhood was actually on the border of Spring and Tomball. I recently discovered that Harvey Schmidt lived in Tomball just a couple of miles from me.
