Was walking around Shubert Alley today.. saw them doing a lot of work on the Booth Theater. I asked someone what was going on and if he knew what show was coming into the theater next and he said they were completely renovating the theater and a Lincoln Center show was being put in. Has anyone heard anything about this?
No one jumped down anyone's throat. I never see how "um" has become this horrid online word.
FWIW, I never remember those kind of announcements. But to be honest, I don't care what show is going where.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
I thought I remembered someone posting about them renovating the theater between NEXT TO NORMAL and HIGH. Am I thinking of another theater that did this about the same time the Booth was empty?
How about getting a clue? What are you the Broadway police?
No, I'm here to learn from the (very many) people on the board who know a lot more about theater than I do. However, there's a lot of obnoxious behavior and pointless pedantry here, and while I try to ignore it, occasionally I succumb to my own impatience at other people's impatience. :)
dramamama, I think the "um" connotes vexation with someone who, in the writer's mind, doesn't know obvious information that everyone should know. That's the attitude I was referring to.
I welcome you to have the last word, if you like - I'm mostly a lurker and don't want to clutter things up too much with off-topic comments.
vou are so correct "front row center"...a lot of "I know everything types" on this board, many of whom don't know very much at all....a lot of these folks seem to get their info by listening in on conversations at the West Way Diner or the Edison Cafe (also let's not forget the countless misinformation posted by interns or PAs that listen in on our conversations). So don't let those kind of folks inhibit your posting on this board.
