"Unworthy of Your Love." I love it that it's a sophisticated and beautiful song that conveys the drama of teenage love in the style of a 1960s AM-radio hit. It's just right for the characters' emotional immaturity. And there's the irony of our knowing that the sweetly over-the-top teenage lament "I love you and I am unworthy of you" can lead to tragedy if taken to heart.

Just a few words on Sondheim: Watching or listening to 'Sunday...' is like cleansing your soul. 'Follies' is like revisiting old friends you don't want to see, but have to. 'Night Music' is like revisiting old friends you want to see. Pure brilliance. Thanks SS.
For some reason, I don't like "A Little Priest." I get that it's witty. But for a Sondheim song, I was expecting more conciseness. I felt like the song dragged on more than it needed to. That is, I felt like the joke wore off before the song ended.
Sorry to all the Sondheim fans (of which I am one).
It's a typical Harburgian type number (Harburgian meaning Yip Harburg), not to mention a homage to Cole Porter as well: It takes an idea and plays with it for a while, it this case seven minutes. And it doesn't surprise me, seeing that Sondheim admires Porter and Harburg.
That explanation just makes me like the song less. To sacrifice conciseness to pay tribute--I expected more from Sondheim. I'm not saying I dislike him because of this song. I'm saying I love his work with a few exceptions.

Agree about Epiphany, MB! Best male solo, "Johanna" if you're a male engenue.
Best Ensemble song for me is definitely "Sunday".
