The Memphis tour with Bryan Finkart, Felicia Boswell, Quentin Earl Darrington & Julie Johnson was leagues better than the OBC cast of Memphis w/Chad Kimball & Montego Glover.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Back in the 90s, Patrick Wilson (first I saw of him) was overall a better Billy Bigelow in the tour of Carousel than Michael Hayden had been on Broadway.

I would be tempted to agree with you if it were not for Adam Pascal, who tried valiantly but could not do even close to what Christian Borle did with the role.
just see the original broadway casts whenever you can!!!!
there is something absolutely magical about the energy, creativity, and passion of those originating these roles together.
as someone who lives in san francisco, i used to compare and try to equate tour casts with obc’s...wishful thinking in general on my part and some sour grapes for not living in nyc
ive been going for years now in may to nyc to see most or all the new musicals, then invariably seeing the tour versions two years later at shn in sf
individuals performances sometimes standout or an actor may do a slightly different interpretation of a character, but ive yet to see a tour cast best an obc cast since starting this in 2012 or even come close.
broadway is the major league and national tours in general are AAA ball, especially with more of them going non equity.
tours are still great and i will continue subscribing, watching and enjoying different actors take on the roles and especially excited to see sting in last ship next month and BOM in march and catch hamilton a few more times b4 it leaves sf

"
Fun fact: Martin Short was actually offered the role on Broadway before Matthew Broderick, but turned it down because he didn’t want to be away from his family.
I thought the recent Love Never Dies North American Tour was infinitely better than the 2012 Australian version. Even though I loved the Australian Production I was mesmerized by Meghan Picerno as Christine on the tour. Thought she was miles ahead of Anna O Byrne. Another that comes to mind is the Something Rotten Tour (Original cast) I’ve seen the OG cast on Broadway as well and have to agree that Rob McClure brought something extra special to the tour. So much more dynamic and fresh. I also usually prefer the tour of Wicked over Broadway.
I wouldn’t say that the entire cast was better, but Jackie Burns was a better Liz/Beth on the If/Then tour than Idina was on Broadway. I saw Idina about halfway through the Broadway run and then subsequently caught Jackie on tour and was much more impressed.
Brave Sir Robin2 said: "The recent EVITA tour with Caroline Bowman and Josh Young over Elena Roger and Ricky Martin. The new arrangements are great, I’d have loved to have the tour cast on the recording. "
I didn't see the Broadway version but this tour was beautiful. Josh Young has one of the best voices I've ever heard and the set, while simple, was made spectacular with some incredible lighting.
I saw the Doyle Sweeney Todd revival on Broadway and on tour and I thought Judy Kaye was a far better Mrs. Lovett than Patti Lupone because she injected humor and energy into the performance, which Lupone was lacking.
