I'm a little surprised no revival of Kiss of the Spider Woman has come to fruition.

I think, especially with the sociopolitical climate, a revival of URINETOWN would be amazing. The only prerequisite, of course, is that I have to direct it. Or, Alex Timbers.

There are so many significant American plays that never get produced in New York, even off-Broadway (unless they're off my radar somehow). "Stage Door, "Auntie Mame," "Blues for Mister Charlie,"--never revived. Even a classic like "Philadelphia Story" hasn't been seen since 1980 or so. "Bus Stop" was revived once, twenty years ago, and never again. "The Skin of Our Teeth"--haven't seen it since the 1970s. It's strange, really. They get produced in other towns...

Personally, I'd love to see, say, Roundabout do a survey, spread out over years, of the Hart/Kaufman/Ferber plays, some of which have never been revived, even though they were hits in their day. Maybe they're considered dated, but the recent revival of "You Can't Take It With You" was a success. Wouldn't it be interesting to see the original PLAY version of "Merrily We Roll Along" (because it's quite different from the musical)?

I loved Raisin back in the late '70s.  I couldn't have been the only one because it won the Tony for Best Musical, but I'm not aware of any revivals and have never seen a local production.  The songs were beautiful.  I hope to hear them again from a stage someday.

Yes, they cancelled a 2013 Roundabout Philadelphia Story. They had a reading earlier this year with Bradley Cooper and Siena Miller but no new info on that.

KING OF HEARTS. Obviously a great story with, in my opinion, a charming score. Unfortunately it opened in the midst of a newspaper strike, pre-Internet, and I believe that killed it. "Nothing, Only Love" is one of my favorites from this, or any show. A cast album was made long after the show had closed. It's available on Apple Music and Spotify. Charming.

Starlight Express...
"

Growing up in the 90s I actually liked listening to the soundtrack of Starlight Express. Once I learned they were on roller skates I was even more fascinated. I really liked the song "Only You". I'd watch it if it's revived on Bway.

Another show I hope to get a revival sometime in the future is The Secret Garden. It was the first musical on Broadway I got to see back in the early 90s.

If they ever bring Chess back, it'll need serious revisions. I saw a recent production in Long Beach and, while the production was horrible, the tacky music and libretto did not help. There's a lot of potential there, it just needs some help.

I also really hope The Wiz makes it to Broadway!

Peter, it's not Broadway, but THE SKIN OF OUR TEETH will be done by TFANA this coming spring. It was last staged by the Public for SITP in 1998, starring John Goodman and Kristen Johnston. I'm not sure the play holds up, but I'd love to see it again.

Funny. Girl. I don't even like it that much, but where is it?!

I'm also shocked Dreamgirls hasn't been on Broadway in over 30 years.
