I didn't realize that Ace and Diana were married to each other, or that they had been an item. Lucky her!
Re Joseph's hair: I read recently that Jesus, Moses, and all the Biblical men would most likely have had short hair -- something about desert heat -- so I don't see why Joseph couldn't be short-haired.
Salve, Regina, Mater misericordiae
Vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra
Salve, Salve Regina
Ad te clamamus exsules filii Eva
Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes
O clemens O pia
I'm not wild about this show but I think Diana Degarmo will sing the **** out of it. That alone makes me hope for a tour cast recording.
Ace will be a very believable Joseph. He's charismatic and a decent actor. His voice is limited but if they let him sing within his range he'll be fine. And as has already been pointed out, he'll be nice eye candy. I doubt he was hired for his voice.
^A little manscaping will work for me. Lee Mead had very closely cropped chest hair in the London production and you really couldn't see it at all unless you were sitting close. That was pretty sexy.
Diana will be amazing in this but I hope performing with Ace all the time isn't her long term career plan. They were good together in Hair but vocally Ace is nowhere near her equal. I'd prefer someone else as Joseph. I don't think he can handle "Any Dream Will Do," and I doubt he would have been considered for this role if Diana hadn't been up for Narrator.
It's not really "two for the price of one" when one of them, in my opinion, isn't up to par. I'd hate to see Degarmo short herself by becoming the better half of a duo.
Glad to see them in a quality production.Looking forward to going in fact I'm only an hour flight away. I saw her in Joseph as the Narrator with Anthony Federov back in 2009? What a voice , a very strong narrator.
Considering Clay clearly sang, acted, and sexed up the role of Joseph like no one before or ever will again (LOL) I'm shocked anyone would mount a national tour of the show. Shouldn't it be retired in his honor, like a football jersey?
Anyway...is there any word on offers going out for the other roles? I'm curious who will be playing the Pharoah and his wife. I'd like to see an actor named Joe Mahwold (I probably just mangled the spelling of his last name). He was Franklin Hart in the national tour of 9 to 5 and I thought he was terrific.
Andy Blankenbuehler is directing and choreographing the new tour. Is this news? The previous troika tour was directed by Dallett Norris so I guess even if they do plan on using the same costumes and scenery for this tour it will be a different interpretation.
I kinda love the garishness. It harkens back to The 10 Commandments: The Musical.
"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter
I'd buy a studio recording of it with them. They both have lovely voices. Diana has better control of hers though.

^I would too. Although, I have quite a few Joseph cast albums and almost all of them omit the majority of the dance and instrumental music. I feel like the only reason to record it again would be if someone was finally going to put the full score on disc. (Or at least put whatever doesn't fit on itunes.)
I wonder which CD they'll sell at the merch booth? I guess if Troika had money in the Patrick Cassidy recording they'll be selling that one. Either that or Really Useful will make them sell the Palladium recording.
Troika had money in the Cassidy recording. Also, Dallett Norris hasn't directed for Troika in a while and they have a whole new business team at the top, so my guess is that this means a "new era" of staging for Troika tours.
