Join us for one of musical theatre’s most beloved classics, The Sound of Music, live on the Riverside Center stage August 20 through October 26. The original Broadway production won 5 Tony Awards, and the film earned 5 Oscars. The Sound of Music features iconic songs like “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “DoReMi,” “My Favorite Things,” and “Sixteen Going on Seventeen”. The energetic postulant turned governess Maria is played by Sarah Mae Andersen. Sarah Mae has performed in many shows here at Riverside Center including Beautiful: the Carole King Musical, Jersey Boys, Ragtime, and Brightstar. We welcome to our stage for the first time Tim Rogan as Captain Georg von Trapp. Tim is originally from Potomac Maryland and a graduate from The Catholic University in Washington DC. He toured nationally in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and Camelot. He has appeared in shows on NCB, HBO, TV Land and Comedy Central. Making her Riverside debut as The Mother Abbess is Greek American Soprano, Kelly Glyptis. Kelly is based in London, England where she has performed as Carlotta in the Phantom of the Opera and was most recently seen as Giorgetta in The Lithuanian National Opera’s production of II Tabarro. She has also been seen in concert with the Boise Philharmonic and Opera Idaho, Eclectic Voices in London, OperaDelaware, Baltimore Concert Opera, Brooklyn Metro Chamber Orchestra, George Mason University, and the Manassas Chorale. The talented cast of the Sound of music continues with Jordan Brady Stocksdale as Max Detweiler, Kiley Ernest as Elsa Scraeder and the von Trapp children are being played by Ella Schnoor as Liesl, Aiden Maldonado as Friedrich, Isla Phillips as Louisa, Grayson Lewis as Kurt, Vera Barfield as Brigitta, Catherine Mayers as Marta, and Ellie Waddell as Gretl. The sisterhood roles are played by Andrea Kahane as Sister Berthe, Rebecca Drury as Sister Margaretta, Abigail Weinel as Sister Sophia, and the nuns are rounded out by Elizabeth Butler, Aileen Mitchener, Emma Potts, and Stephanie Wood. Franz-The Butler is played by Ariel Messeca, Kathy Halenda as Frau Schmidt, Andy Braden as Herr Zeller, Jeffrey Dunn as Admiral von Schreiber, Ian Lane as Elberfield, and Jake Ramirez as an ensemble member. Faith Carter is the u/s for Louisa and Liesl, Joey Vogal is the u/s for Kurt, and Lizzie Barlett is the swing for the nuns. The creative team is led by CEO, Producing Artistic Director & Director, Patrick A’Hearn, Associate Producing Artistic Director and Music Director Carson Eubank, Choreographer Stephanie Wood, and Associate Music Director David Landrum. The design team includes Scenic Designer Christian Fleming, Lighting Designer Weston Corey, Sound Designer Cheyenne Tenda, Costume Designer Bee Gable, and Wig Designer Bethany Cheek.
