BAROCOCO at Baltimore Theatre Project

In this collaboratively devised ensemble work, DC-based company Happenstance Theater portrays oblivious entitlement on the brink of extinction. Loosely inspired by Last Letters: Prisons and Prisoners of the French Revolution by Olivier Blanc, the show takes a physical comedy dive into the late Baroque, flaunting 18th century finery, wigs, panniers, and the excesses of Rococo. The six-person ensemble exposes an indulgent aristocratic lifestyle through parlor games, pantomime, and absurd comedy of manners. The cast features Stephanie Baird, Gwen Grastorf, Mark Jaster, Sabrina Mandell, Sarah Olmsted Thomas and Alex Vernon.
