Ruxton Players to Present THE SCARECROW, 10/11-19

The award-winning Ruxton Players, residing at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Towson, are pleased to present the first Baltimore production in several decades of the first great American play of the 20th century, The Scarecrow by Percy MacKaye, running October 11-12 and 18-19, 2013. Funny, touching, poetic, and magical, the play is appropriate for audiences of all ages.

The 2013 New York International Fringe Festival's Producing Artistic Director Elena K. Holy announced this year's recipients of the festival's Overall Excellence Awards on August 25 at a ceremony held at the New York night club The Cutting Room. An independent panel of over 40 theater professionals selected the winners from among the festival's 185 entrants. Among those 185 shows was The Young Olympians and the Most Amazingly Awesome Adventure Ever produced by Maryland Ensemble Theatre's family theatre, The Fun Company. The show was also among those whose name was announced at the ceremony on the 25th, winning an Overall Excellence Award for an Ensemble. Scroll down for photos of the cast and crew in NYC!

Children's Playhouse of MD (CPM), in residence at CCBC Essex, will open its 2013-2014 season with Bye Bye Birdie 1 p.m. on the weekends of Sept. 14-15, 21-22, 28-29 in the Administration Building Lecture Hall (formerly the J Building), CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Blvd. An additional 4 p.m. show Sept. 22nd will be sign language interpreted by students in the CCBC Interpreter Preparation program. The Baltimore Shakespeare Factory has announced open enrollment for its fall Touchstone Players production of The Tempest. Students entering grades 3 - 8 can experience what it might be like to travel back in time to the 1600s and be a part of the fun and excitement of Shakespeare's acting company-The King's Men. Participants will hone their acting skills, make friends, build confidence, and develop an appreciation and understanding of Shakespeare's work. Plus, it's a 'malmsey-butt' of fun!

When The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre's producers were working on putting together the 2013 Season, they decided to include shows that were hits both on the stage and the silver screen. 2013 became the year that Broadway and Hollywood met at the Frederick dinner theater, the area's only theater open and producing shows 52 weeks of the year. Following Way Off Broadway's productions of Steel Magnolias, 9 to 5 - The Musical, and Legally Blonde, Way Off Broadway's creative team knew they needed to find the perfect show to fill the fall slot and cap off the 'Broadway Meets Hollywood' Season before moving into the holidays.
