On Sunday night, the Tony Awards honored legendary orchestrator and arranger Harold Wheeler with one of three 2019 Lifetime Achievement Awards. As part of the 73rd Annual Tony Awards, legendary playwright and librettist Terrence McNally was honored with one of the Lifetime Achievement Award. A revival of his play Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune is currently on Broadway, starring Audra McDonald and Michael Shannon. Rosemary Harris won her first Tony Award nearly 55 years ago in THE LION IN WINTER, now starring in the Lincoln Center Broadway revival of MY FAIR LADY, at the 73rd Annual Tony Awards, she received a 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award. Watch her accept the award here.

zxZXAt the 73rd Annual Tony Awards, the talented cast of AIN'T TOO PROUD - THE LIFE AND TIMES OF THE TEMPTATIONS performed a medley of songs from the show. A Tony winner himself, THE LATE LATE SHOW James Corden opened the 73rd Annual Tony Awards with an expansive opening number that included over 170 Broadway stars. In the number, Corden celebrated the magic of live shows - with a brief interruption from Bryan Cranston - to open the 2019 Tony Awards. Corden was joined on stage by the casts of Ain't Too Proud, Tootsie, Oklahoma!, Beetlejuice, The Prom, Hadestown, and Kiss Me, Kate.

At the 2019 Tony Awards, Monticello High School Theater Director Madeline Michel from Charlottesville, Va. was awarded the 2019 Excellence in Theatre Education Award. The Excellence in Theatre Education Award was co-founded in 2014 by the Tony Awards and Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) to recognize top K-12 drama teachers and to celebrate arts education. 

On Sunday night at the 73rd Annual Tony Awards, TheatreWorks Silicon Valley received the 2019 Regional Theatre Tony Award. The honor is accompanied by a grant of $25,000, made possible by City National Bank's generous support of the Creative Arts Awards. Watch the theatre accept the Tony Award.

asdasdBefore the CBS Broadcast of the 73rd Annual Tony Awards began, the stars of the upcoming Broadway adaptation of Moulin Rouge, Karen Olivo, Aaron Tveit and Danny Burstein, co-hosted Creative Arts Awards. Included in the announcements were the winners in the lighting, sounds, scenic, and costume design and orchestration categories.

zxczcAt Sunday night's 73rd annual Tony Awards, Judith Light accepted the 2019 Isabelle Stevenson Award. The annual honor is presented annually to a member of the theatre community who has made a substantial contribution of volunteered time and effort on behalf of one or more humanitarian, social service or charitable organizations. Light received the Award for her impassioned advocacy to end HIV/AIDS and her support for LGBTQ+ and human rights.

Premieres Sunday, April 14 at 9/8c, on PBS.
