Nicole Rosky

Nicole is the Editor-in-Chief of BroadwayWorld, where she began her journey as an intern in 2010. As BroadwayWorld's Senior Managing Editor, a role she took on in 2012, she covered over a decade's-worth of theatre and live entertainment in New York City and around the world. Throughout her time with BroadwayWorld, Nicole has worked extensively with the photo and video team, producing (and sometimes editing) a great deal of the site's original programming, including Backstage with Richard Ridge, Dance Captain Dance Attack, Next on Stage, Kid Critics, and Teen Critics, just to name a few. Originally from outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she is a proud graduate of Penn State University's College of Communications. Nicole currently resides in Brooklyn, New York, where she gets to enjoy far more great theatre than she ever dreamed. Her first great role was "Billy Flynn" in her fourth grade musical theatre class. Oh, how far she has come!

Favorite Stories:

  • Tony Nominee Reactions - I have had the pleasure of covering every Tony Awards season since 2011 and one of my favorite parts is hearing from the nominees just moments after they find out that they ARE nominees.
  • Theatre Queens - When I'm not at a Broadway show, you'll find me at home, catching up on the latest episodes of RuPaul's Drag Race. I've had a blast chatting with many of the queens who call theatre their first love.
  • Broadway Jukebox - I love a good playlist and I find myself making them OFTEN. I've curated over 100 musical theatre playlists for BroadwayWorld (my personal favorite is "Female Anthems of Broadway"). Give them a listen and follow BroadwayWorld on Spotify to find out what I come up with next!
  • Broadway By Design - I created this series after realizing how little information is shared about the theatrical design process and it has become one of my favorite ongoing features.
  • Next On Stage - Working on this project and having the opportunity to spotlight so many talented young people from around the country has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.

IN THE HEIGHTS' Andrea Burns will star in Tim Pinckney's new comedy, EVER SO HUMBLE and The Hangar Theatre. The production will run from July 14 through 23. She is joined in the production by Greg Bostwick, Andréa Burns, Jesse Bush, Karl Gregory, Philip Hoffman, Eric T. Miller and Erica Steinhagen. The cast of PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT THE MUSICAL performed on the premiere results show of season 6 of NBC's hit summer talent competition series 'America's Got Talent' last night. Tony-nominee Will Swenson led the cast in a diva-tastic medley of some of Priscilla's most popular songs - 'Finally,' 'Shake Your Groove Thing,' and 'MacArthur Park' - featuring the show's trademark 2011 Tony-winning costumes designed by Oscar and Tony-winning designers Tim Chappel and Lizzy Gardiner.

Earlier today at a press conference in front of Broadway's St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street), where the Tony® Award-winning revival of HAIR: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical officially opens tonight, Broadway Impact co-founder Rory O'Malley (2011 Tony Award® nominee) announced that several same-sex couples from the Broadway community will get married onstage at the St. James Theatre on July 25 immediately following that evening's performance of HAIR. These unions will be among the very first in New York State, following the landmark bill recently passed by state legislators. The press conference also included Public Theater Artistic Director Oskar Eustis, Jujamcyn Theatres President Jordan Roth and the cast of HAIR.

Entertainment One (eOne), Sony Pictures Television Networks, NBC and Global are proud to announce that Juliette Lewis ('Natural Born Killers,' 'Cape Fear') and Callum Keith Rennie ('The Killing,' 'Californication') are signed on to star in the new legal drama series 'The Firm,' based on John Grisham's best-selling novel and executive-produced by Grisham and Lukas Reiter. Lewis and Rennie join Josh Lucas ('The Lincoln Lawyer,' 'Sweet Home Alabama') who was previously announced to star as attorney Mitchell McDeere (the role originated by Tom Cruise in the film). David Straiton ('House,' 'Fringe') is confirmed to direct the pilot episode which will commence production in Toronto this August. Helen Shaver ('Judging Amy,' NBC's 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit') has also joined the series as a producer and will direct multiple episodes.

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, is pleased to announce the first round of 2011 Edgerton Foundation New American Play awards granted to TCG member theaters across the U.S. The awards, totaling $485,000, allow 19 theaters the opportunity for extra time in the development and rehearsal of new plays with the entire creative team, helping to extend the life of the play after its first run. A second group of 2011 awards will be announced in September.

GLEE creator Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and cast members of the the show are set to participate in this year's Comic Con, which will feature a sneak peek at never-before-seen footage and behind-the-scenes secrets, followed by a Q&A session in which fans can ask everything they ever wanted to know about the Golden Globe-winning series. The festivities will be held on July 24 at 10AM. According to TVLine.com, Cast members Darren Criss, Harry Shum Jr., Jenna Ushkowitz, and Dot Marie Jones will be there for the event, and they will be joined byco-creators Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, as well as Dante di Loreto and Zack Woodlee.
