Earlier this week, BroadwayWorld reported that movie director Kevin Smith wants to bring his 1994 flim 'The Clerks' to the Broadway stage in 2014. If this plan comes to fruition it will join the ranks of Disney's THE LION KING- another successful 1994 film, which opened in back in 1997 and is still running Minskoff Theatre. The cast of ONCE, the critically acclaimed new musical based on the 2007 Academy Award-winning film, appeared on 'Late Show with David Letterman' last night, March 29, where Steve Kazee and Cristin Milioti performed 'Falling Slowly.' Check out the performance below!

Tonight, March 29, marks this year's final installment of Jason Reitman's Live Read productions will feature a reading of The Big Lebowski on the Bing Theater stage. Seth Rogen will will lead the production as 'The Dude.' Additional cast members will include Jason Alexander, Hank Azaria, Christina Hendricks, Nick Kroll, Catherine Reitman, Fred Savage, and Rainn Wilson.

On Friday April 20, BBC Radio 2's 'Friday Night is Music Night' will present a special live concert starring Kerry Ellis. Special guests will include Brian May (Queen); Ramin Karimloo (Phantom of the Opera), Jonathan Ansell (G4) and the sixty piece BBC Concert Orchestra, conducted by Steve Sidwell.

On April 18, the Wagner College Theatre will premiere "Goddess Wheel," a new musical by "Hair" composer Galt MacDermot, with book and lyrics by Matty Selman. The show, which runs through April 29, will be staged in the Music Hall at Staten Island's Snug Harbor Cultural Center.

Long Wharf Theatre will present My Name is Asher Lev, by Aaron Posner and adapted from Chaim Potok's 1972 novel,directed by Long Wharf Theatre Artistic Director Gordon Edelstein. The show will run from May 2 through May 27 on the Mainstage. The press opening will take place Wednesday, May 9 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $40-$70. Newsies, the new American musical, opens tonight, March 29 at the Nederlander Theatre, and has extended its limited Broadway engagement through August 19, 2012. Produced by Rodgers & Hammerstein: AnImagem Company, this preservation of Rodgers & Hammerstein's 1955 Broadway musical rarity marks the first time an Encores! musical has been recorded live.

Happy Birthday Debbie Reynolds! Reynolds regularly appeared in movie musicals during the 1950s and had several hit records during the period. Perhaps her most high-profile film role was in Singin' in the Rain (1952) as Kathy Selden. On Broadway, Reynolds has starred in such shows as Irene, Debbie, and Woman of the Year. Today in 2009, the second Broadway revival of HAIR opened at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, where it ran for 519 performances. Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical is a rock musical with a book and lyrics by James Rado and Gerome Ragni and music by Galt MacDermot. A product of the hippie counter-culture and sexual revolution of the 1960s, several of its songs became anthems of the anti-Vietnam War peace movement. Hair tells the story of the 'tribe', a group of politically active, long-haired hippies of the 'Age of Aquarius' living a bohemian life in New York City and fighting against conscription into the Vietnam War.

Today in 2000, Contact opened at the Vivien Beaumont Theatre, where it ran for 1010 performances.Contact: The Musical is a musical 'dance play' (some deemed it a ballet) that was developed by Susan Stroman and John Weidman, with its 'book' by Weidman and both choreography and direction by Stroman. It consists of three separate one-act dance plays. The show was received with much critical acclaim and won the 2000 Tony Award for Best Musical. A West End production opened at the Queen's Theatre in October 2002, and closed on May 10, 2003.

Today in 1951, The King and I opened at the St. James Theatre, where it ran for 1246 performances. The King and I is the fifth musical by the team of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. The work is based on the 1944 novel Anna and the King of Siam by Margaret Landon and derives from the memoirs of Anna Leonowens, who became governess to the children of King Mongkut of Siam in the early 1860s. The story deals with the experiences of the British schoolteacher, who is hired as part of the King's drive to modernize his country. The relationship between the King and Anna is marked by conflict through much of the play, as well as by a love that neither is able to express.

Roundabout Theatre Company in association with Damian Arnold, will present the Broadway premiere of Marc Camoletti's classic farce Don't Dress For Dinner, starring Ben Daniels as 'Robert,' Patricia Kalember as 'Jacqueline,' Adam James as 'Bernard,' David Aron Damane as 'George' and Jennifer Tilly as 'Suzanne' with Spencer Kayden as 'Suzette.' Rehearsal are now underway for Robert Falls' revival of Eugene O'Neill's The Iceman Cometh at Goodman Theatre, and there is a last-minute cast change, according to the Chicago Tribune. Kate Arrington will replace Jennifer Engstrom as Cora.

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog creator and GLEE director Joss Whedon recently had a long chat with GQ, where he brought up his taste in musicals. Whedon commented: 'The musicals that I love on stage are generally meant for the stage. I'm not a Les Mis fan. I have a lot of friends who just want to beat me with sticks when I tell them that but what I'm interested in are new musicals, real book musicals - not jukebox musicals.'

Stage and screen star Steven Pasquale's most recent pilot titled Over/Under, has not been picked up by USA, according to Deadline.com. Bronwen Hughes directed the project, which featured a script by Sheila Callaghan.
