The Lincoln Center Theater production of 4000 MILES, a new play by Amy Herzog, directed by Daniel Aukin opens tonight, April 2 at 6:45 pm at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (150 West 65 Street). 4000 Miles premiered last summer as a production of LCT3, Lincoln Center Theater's programming initiative devoted to producing the work of new artists and developing new audiences. 4000 Miles features its original LCT3 cast - Gabriel Ebert, Greta Lee, Mary Louise Wilson and Zoë Winters.

On Monday, April 9, The Broadway National Touring Cast of Green Day's American Idiot will sing for Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS and Broadway Impact.

Roundabout Theatre Company has just announced the full cast for the new Off-Broadway production of Simon Gray's comedy-drama The Common Pursuit, directed by Moises Kaufman. The Common Pursuit will feature Kristen Bush as 'Marigold,' Kieran Campion as 'Peter,' Josh Cooke as 'Stuart,' Jacob Fishel as 'Martin,' Tim McGeever as 'Humphry,' Lucas Near-Verbrugghe as 'Nick.'

Newsies, the new American musical, just opened at the Nederlander Theatre (208 W 41st St) for a strictly limited performance run following its critically-hailed stint at Paper Mill Playhouse last fall. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, the cast recorded the original Broadway cast recording earlier this month, and the album is currently available for pre-order on iTunes (release date 4/10) and in hardcopy form (release date 5/15). Today in 1992, Hamlet opened at Criterion Center Stage Right, where it ran for 45 performances. Set in the Kingdom of Denmark, the play dramatizes the revenge Prince Hamlet exacts on his uncle Claudius for murdering King Hamlet, Claudius's brother and Prince Hamlet's father, and then succeeding to the throne and taking as his wife Gertrude, the old king's widow and Prince Hamlet's mother. The play vividly portrays both true and feigned madness - from overwhelming grief to seething rage - and explores themes of treachery, revenge, incest, and moral corruption.

Earlier this week, BroadwayWorld reported that movie director Kevin Smith wants to bring his 1994 flim 'The Clerks' to the Broadway stage in 2014. If this plan comes to fruition it will join the ranks of Disney's THE LION KING- another successful 1994 film, which opened in back in 1997 and is still running Minskoff Theatre. Tonight, March 29, marks this year's final installment of Jason Reitman's Live Read productions will feature a reading of The Big Lebowski on the Bing Theater stage. Seth Rogen will will lead the production as 'The Dude.' Additional cast members will include Jason Alexander, Hank Azaria, Christina Hendricks, Nick Kroll, Catherine Reitman, Fred Savage, and Rainn Wilson.

On Friday April 20, BBC Radio 2's 'Friday Night is Music Night' will present a special live concert starring Kerry Ellis. Special guests will include Brian May (Queen); Ramin Karimloo (Phantom of the Opera), Jonathan Ansell (G4) and the sixty piece BBC Concert Orchestra, conducted by Steve Sidwell.

Second Stage Theatre's Spring Gala celebration will honor Corporate Partner American Express, Artist Anna Deavere Smith, and Trustees Tavener Holmes Berry and Bambi Putnam for their extraordinary commitment to the arts and Second Stage on Monday, April 2, 2012 at Cipriani 42nd Street, 110 East 42nd Street.

On April 18, the Wagner College Theatre will premiere "Goddess Wheel," a new musical by "Hair" composer Galt MacDermot, with book and lyrics by Matty Selman. The show, which runs through April 29, will be staged in the Music Hall at Staten Island's Snug Harbor Cultural Center.

Long Wharf Theatre will present My Name is Asher Lev, by Aaron Posner and adapted from Chaim Potok's 1972 novel,directed by Long Wharf Theatre Artistic Director Gordon Edelstein. The show will run from May 2 through May 27 on the Mainstage. The press opening will take place Wednesday, May 9 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $40-$70.
